Yes, we may be sheep, but God wants us to be wolves. Yes, that’s right, wolves. Not the kind of wolf that devours and destroys. You need to be the kind of wolf that tracks down lost souls and saves them.
The Bible is full of stories where people were called to do something great, and they thought, “I’m just a normal person. I can’t do that.” But God uses regular people to do extraordinary things all the time. Just look at Gideon or Esther or David. They were all just everyday folks who God used in big ways. And if God can use them, he can certainly use you too!
So, how does one become a wolf for Christ? Well, it starts with having the right mindset. You need to see yourself as part of a team working together for a common goal: tracking down lost souls and saving them from eternal damnation. It’s a balance.
You need to be like a sheep in the fact that you need Jesus to be your shepherd. You must be like a wolf in the fact that wolves are fearless and will venture out of their comfort zone to accomplish a mission.
The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone in this fight. When you become a wolf for Christ, you join a pack of other wolves who are all working together to achieve the same goal. There is strength in numbers, and together we can accomplish anything! It’s not going to be easy, but it will be worth it when you see those precious souls come into the fold because of your efforts!
Get out there and be God’s wolf!

Hello, everyone. My name is Spencer Coffman. Welcome to Social Media Ministries where our mission is to spread the living Word of God to as many places as possible through the use of social media.
So, please help us accomplish that by sharing this video on your social media platforms and also talking about it with your friends because through talking about it, discussion, you’ll begin to internalize it more, learn more about it.
Also, get out your Bible. Dive deep with us into the Scriptures. If you’re traveling right now or listening to this while you’re working or something like that, come back, listen to it again later, and use your Bible at that time. Help us out with that. Also, feel free to click on the like button, subscribe button, and the bell icon, as well.
So, let’s dive into today’s message. We have a great message. It is continuing on from the potentially humbling and dismal message of last week about how we as people are stupid, dumb sheep. Yes, that is right. So, if you haven’t listened to that message, then you should go back and check it out. There will be a card up here directing you to it, also a link in the description below, so check that out.
Yes, humans are sheep, and sheep are stupid and they need a shepherd. That is a basic recap, and what do we do? Well, we are the stupid, dumb sheep. We need a shepherd. It’s not an earthly shepherd because earthly shepherds can be bad shepherds. It is a heavenly shepherd, Jesus, who was sent here to be our good shepherd.
The lamb of God, He is only a lamb in the fact that He is a good and perfect sacrifice for our sins, and now He is our shepherd. He is not a dumb sheep like we are. We are literally dumb sheep.
So, moving on from that you are to be like a sheep in one way only, and that is to rely on God. You are fully dependent upon Jesus Christ, your Savior, your Shepherd, in everything here on this Earth and eventually above when we are fortunate enough to go home.
So, if you are only to be like a sheep in that one way, what are you to be? Well, God wants wolves. Now, you may say, “Whoa, whoa, wait a minute, it’s all about here in the Bible, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, that the Devil is a wolf on the prowl to come and kill us and steal and destroy.” Right, you are not to be like that type of wolf, no, no, no.
Exactly as Jesus was the lamb of God as our perfect sacrifice, we are to take on some characteristics of wolves to go out and hunt. What do wolves do? Well, before we dive into that, let’s go back a little bit on the sheep analogy of us and relying on God. We’re going to check out two Verses that really show us that we can trust and we need to rely on God fully, and that is how we are to be like sheep.
So, we’re going to go to Proverbs 3:5. So, if you’ve got your Bible, Proverbs Chapter 3, Verse 5, says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” So, basically, right there, trust in the Lord with all your heart, fully rely on God. Then we’re going to go to 1 Peter 5:7, which says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
Okay, two Verses – fully rely on God, that is the only way you are to be like a sheep.
Now, in the rest of your manner, you are to be a wolf! Fierce! Why? Why are you a fierce wolf? Well, in Matthew, the Great Commission, this is very, very well talked about, very widely known, you probably know it. Matthew 28:19-20, we are going to read it for you. So, here we go.
Turn there if you can, Matthew Chapter 28, Verses 19 and 20, says, “Therefore…” – this is Jesus speaking – “…Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And, surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”
You are to get out there. Remember, sheep don’t travel, sheep don’t go anywhere, sheep stay in their comfort zone. They rely fully on everyone else for everything. Well, you are to rely on God for everything here, but you are to be a wolf. What does a wolf do? Wolf travels with others.
Jesus travels with other Disciples. He always sent them out two by two. Wolves can go out in pairs. Don’t be a lone wolf. You’ll get killed. The Devil will come and prey upon you and die. Just like – a wolf is a pack animal. They all have their territories. If another pack or another animal comes into their territory, what do these other wolves do? They kill them. It’s not big enough for two packs. They don’t share.
If you become a lone wolf and start going out, what’s going to happen to you? Another pack, which is the Devil, will kill you. You’ll be wiped out. You’ll be overridden, overrun, overpowered. You need people with you. When you go out and preach the Gospel and bring others to Christ, do not do it alone. You, obviously, have Jesus with you, but you need more. You need to rely on others. You need support. You need more people fighting for you…and with you.
So, wolves are a pack animal. Now, wolves are bad in a lot of ways, but we can take the good, and that’s what we want to be like. Pack animal, we work together. Jesus traveled with other Disciples. They went out together preaching, saving others. Matthew, the Great Commission, right here, go out and preach the Gospel.
What else? Okay, did, did Jesus recruit sheep? Did he recruit – if all people are sheep and He recruited 12 Disciples, were those Disciples sheep? Well, yes, because they left everything to go follow Him. He was their shepherd. But, also no. Yes, He recruited sheep, but they weren’t passive sheep; they weren’t dumb, stupid sheep.
He recruited fishermen, tax collectors, the people who were already hungry out there. What – tax collectors? Are you kidding me? Tax collectors back then, they were hated, despised, people didn’t like them. Why? Because always, “Give me the money, baby.” They were taking in stuff. They were ripping people off. They were cheating, lying, stealing probably, doing all kinds of things. Jesus wanted them. Why? Because he was hungry, he had that mentality, he was fierce.
Fishermen, they’re hungry, they’re out there in the weather, in the elements, they stink like these fish. They’re trying to heave these heavy nets. It wasn’t a fishing pole sipping a little cocktail on the nice bass boat – no! These guys were working hard, they were pulling in nets. These ropes, these nets were heavy. They were strong, muscular, hungry men. They wanted more.
Jesus recruited them. He recruited wolves. God wants you to be on fire for Him. We’ve talked about this in the past. You got to be hot, not lukewarm. He wants you to be out in the world hunting for unbelievers, and what are you going to do with them? You going to devour them? No.
You’re going to convert them, you’re going to bring them to Christ. You are going to get the lost sheep that are out there, bring them into our flock, and they will become sheep of His pasture. They will become sheep of Jesus, the good shepherd.
Not everyone can be a wolf. So, if you’re listening to this, and you say, “I just don’t have it in me to go out and preach the Gospel.” Well, then, share the video. Maybe someone else can. Maybe your friend will. You never know. Do your part. Do what you can.
Here we go, parable of the lost sheep, Luke Chapter 15, so turn there. God wants you out there hunting for lost souls and unbelievers so you can bring them to Him. Just like Matthew 28 just said, the Great Commission, go out there, baptize everyone, get them to become Christians and know Jesus Christ, not just a Christian but people who really truly know and love the Lord Jesus Christ and follow what’s in this Bible, this book, God’s book.
Alright, here we go. So, Luke Chapter 15 has three nice stories. I’m not going to read the whole thing. I encourage you, please go through and read them later. But, pretty much what it is is the first one is the parable of the lost sheep, and Jesus says, “Suppose one person has 100 sheep and one wanders off.”
Does he just say, “Hey, forget about it. It’s only one. I still have 99 left.”? No, he goes and finds the one and ends up being more excited about the one lost sheep that he has found than the 99 that stayed there.
Now, you may say, “That seems kind of backward. Why would he leave all 99 to go search for one? Cut your losses, and keep the 99 safe.” Yes, keep the 99 safe, but if one is lost, it is our job to go get it! There are lost sheep out there all over that don’t know the Lord.
Alright, next one, “Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one.” Okay, does she say, “Oh, I guess I just lost one, no big deal. It’s only one silver coin.”? No, she lights a candle, sweeps the floor, searches on her hands and knees until she finds it, and then she says, “Yes, I have found my lost coin!” And, she rejoices in the one even though she still had the nine.
Or, parable of the lost son, now this one is, is one that’s very contro – people always, they just, I don’t know. It eats them up. They don’t quite understand it. One son is a good son. He stays at home, and he does what his father says. And, the other one says, “Give me my inheritance now, I want it.” And, he leaves, and he squanders it all. And, then he comes back, and he says, “Wait a minute. Kill the fattened calf, my son has returned.”
The other son says, “But, father, I have been here working for you. Why is there no celebration for me?” He says, “Because the other one was lost and has now returned. He was dead to me, and he is now alive and I have him back. I’m so happy.”
We are all sheep of God’s pasture. Some follow Jesus right away, others become lost. Is it our job, is it Jesus and is it His nature, is it God’s nature that says, “Alright, they’re lost. I guess that’s it.”? No, He says, they’re lost, and I want to find them. I want them found.
I want wolves to go hunt them down and bring them back to me, not to go hunt them down and kill them and devour them, but to bring them back. That’s why He had Disciples. Jesus had 12 Disciples sent out to bring people back.
We are to be ferocious wolves that go out and devour demons, find lost souls, hunt them down, track them down, fight the spiritual battle, and be on fire for Christ. Get out there, share the good news, do not be afraid. Are wolves afraid? No, they’re not afraid. They’re out there traveling with their pack. There’s nothing to be afraid of.
They know that the guy next to him’s got their back. They know this guy’s got it. We travel together. We hunt them down. Someone, another lone wolf comes in and tries to attack a demon, comes in and tries to attack. We’ve got multiple of us. We can overpower the demon.
We have Jesus, we overpower the demon. There is nothing more powerful than Jesus Christ. Simply His name brings fear into the demons. That’s it. That’s it. Don’t be afraid. Sheep, sheep are always afraid! Are you kidding me? Sheep will be afraid at the sound of the wind quaking the leaves, the, the shaking of – like a quaking aspen. They quake with fear. Sheep will be afraid of that.
Sheep are always afraid. You do not want to always be afraid. You want to be a wolf, fierce, that relies on God like a sheep but that goes out and hunts the unbelievers and the lost in an attempt to bring them to Christ. Be unafraid to spread the Gospel.
Turn with me to Mark 16, Mark Chapter 16, Verse 15 says, “He said to them…” – this is Jesus speaking – “‘…Go out into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’” What’s the good news? That Jesus Christ came here and died for our sins. To who? To your neighbor? To your brother? No, to all creation, everywhere you can.
What is the purpose of Social Media Ministries? To use social media to share this good news to as many places as possible. How can we reach – if you are in Alabama, how can you reach someone in Thailand? Internet, share, real simple. You don’t need to fly over there – share, that’s it, share.
How do you share? Well, you may now say, “I can’t do that. But, Spencer, I can’t come up with all this content.” You don’t have to. Content is here. Share a Bible verse, share this video, share something, all you gotta do is share the content is already there. Click the button, real simple in today’s day and age, it’s all you got to do.
Don’t be afraid. Be a wolf, travel in a pack with others if you’re going to go out and preach the good news. Spread the Gospel like Jesus. What did He do? He was out there every single day sharing the good news. He was out there hunting for lost souls, fighting demons, devouring them.
He overpowered, he drove them out. They were so afraid of Him that they said, “Please have mercy on us. Don’t do this, do this.” And, Jesus would say, “Okay, fine go into the, the pigs or whatever other examples. They were so scared of Jesus. They knew who He was. They recognized Him.
Fight the good fight. What is the good fight? The spiritual battle for Jesus Christ. God calls us to be like Jesus. What does that mean? Does that mean you are a passive sheep that doesn’t leave your own home, that doesn’t travel, that doesn’t do anything? No, like Jesus out there every single day, fighting the good fight, be not afraid, but they preached the Gospel everywhere.
Let’s go to Matthew 10:8 for our final Verse today, 10:8, it says, 10:8 let’s – here, okay, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons, freely you have received, freely give.” What does this mean? This is Jesus speaking. Okay, “Freely you have received, freely give.”
Well, if you have been baptized with the Holy Spirit, you have the Holy Spirit in you. He’s talking to His Disciples here. He’s, this is – the caption of Chapter 10 is “Jesus sends out the twelve.” He doesn’t send them out one at a time. He sends them out in pairs. Why? A wolf traveling alone is a lone wolf. He comes in on another pack. They kill him.
Two can stand up. Remember Proverbs, “Two people can keep warm. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” Look right here, the cord of three strands will not be broken. What are the three strands? You, your friend who goes out with you, and who? The Holy Spirit with you. Okay, so that means Jesus sends out the twelve, freely you have received, freely give. What did they receive? The Holy Spirit. And, they are to share that with others, the good news of Christ.
Get out there! Be a wolf! Share the Gospel. Don’t be afraid, rely on Jesus as your shepherd to guide you. Hunt down the lost souls. Bring them to Christ. It is the Great Commission to go out there and baptize those in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and bring more people to Christ. Not being a Christian but being a true believer and follower of Jesus and what the Bible says. That is what you are to do.
Let’s pray:
Father, thank you so much for this powerful and inspiring message. Please get everyone who’s listening just to be filled with anticipation and anxiety and hunger to get out there and do more for you.
Lord, we are to rely on you. 1 Peter 5:7, cast our anxiety on you. Yes, and that proverb says trust in you with all our hearts, lean on you. Yes, we are to be sheep that fully rely on you. We are to be wolves that go out there and find the lost and bring them to you so that they can be found, as well.
Now, Lord, we understand that not every single person listening and not every single person tuning in can be out there fighting and, and trying to bring people to Christ. But, every single person watching can click a button. They can share. They can tell their friend, their family, their relative. They can post something on their timeline.
They can still be a part of the Great Commission to preach the Gospel to all nations.
How can we reach other countries? Internet, social media. We can do this Lord. We ask for their help and their support, and Jesus, please give them a driving desire and a nature to get out there and be more like you. And, give them the wisdom and the heart to understand and know that when it gets hard, to keep going.
Because it wasn’t easy for Jesus. We know that. It won’t be easy for us, either, and Lord, we ask for your guidance, and your strength, and your endurance to keep pushing us forward.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thank you so much for tuning in today, for listening, for being here, for being present. Read the Scripture Verses mentioned.
If you couldn’t follow along now, watch this again, go back, read them, share it, talk about it with your friends and your family. Fully understand it. If you disagree, talk about it with someone else. Talking about it is good. Leave a comment down below. Engage in discussion. It’s only by discussion that we can continue to learn. As iron sharpens iron, there’s going to be friction.
Share the video if you want if you can. If not, no big deal. Please continue to support us in your prayers. If you want to donate financially I’d appreciate that, as well. You can do so with links below, comment, etc. Do what you can. Get out there. Be God’s wolf.
God bless.
