It’s easy to follow the crowd. To do what everyone else is doing. But is that really living? Is that how you want to spend your life? Following the sheep in front of you, with no idea where you’re going or why?
If all of your friends were going to jump off of a cliff, would you do it too? No, you should not! However, The answer, whether we like it or not, is most likely yes. Because people are sheep and sheep will blindly follow the leader in front of them.
That’s why it’s important that we have someone to lead us in the right direction. We need a GOOD shepherd; someone who will guide us away from danger and temptation instead of toward it.
Jesus is the perfect example of a good shepherd. He is able to show people how to live their lives with integrity, faith, and hope. He is able to provide guidance and lead people away from harm. He is willing to sacrifice himself for his flock, showing them the ultimate example of love.
Following Jesus is the best thing that you can do for yourself. He will lead you away from danger and show you what true love looks like in action. Don’t blindly follow whatever everyone else is doing; be wise and follow Jesus!

So, we have a good message for you today. It is about people and how we are born and how people, in general, are really just very, very stupid.
And so, if you are one of the types of people who just can’t understand why people are so dumb, or why things just are so stupid, then you’re going to like this. If you are one of the people who really don’t have a clue and are one of the airheads out there, then you probably won’t like this, but maybe it’s time for you to make a change.
So, let me start out with a little story. If you were with all your friends and everyone was going to jump off of a cliff, would you jump off of the cliff, as well? This is a story and a scenario that happens all the time. People use it, parents use it when their kids say, “Oh, everyone else is doing it.” Okay, if everyone else would jump off a cliff, would you, as well? The real answer is yes. Pretty much everyone would.
We are so blind as people, as humans, that we blindly follow any leader whoever takes us anywhere. Look at history. Look at people like Hitler, Stalin, all of these people who came about, became these great leaders that were really not great, but somehow they got many, many people to follow them into doing really, really bad things. How? Because people are sheep.
What does sheep have to do with anything? Well, let me tell you a story about sheep. In 2013 there was a place in eastern Turkey where there were about 1,500 sheep, a big flock, out and about. Now, these shepherds were pretty lazy shepherds. They were bad shepherds.
They went off and had breakfast in a nearby town. I don’t know why they didn’t have their breakfast out there with the flock, but they left. And, all of a sudden one dumb sheep, or maybe the leader sheep of the bunch, walked off a cliff and lo-and-behold another sheep and another sheep, and pretty soon hundreds of sheep are walking off of this cliff to their deaths – 400 sheep died because they walked off the cliff.
Then, miraculously, 1,100 sheep survived by walking off the cliff. Why? Well, probably because the fluffiness of the 400 idiot sheep that died helped save the 1,100 idiot sheep that landed on top of them and somehow made it. So, 1,500 sheep walked off a cliff, 400 died. The point is sheep are dumb. Sheep blindly follow. The shepherds left, so they were bad shepherds. And, as a result, 400 sheep died in 2013 in eastern Turkey.
You can look that up. It’s a true story. I’m sad to say, but it illustrates the point very well here. Number one, people are sheep. Number two, if people are sheep, would they jump off a cliff and follow their friends? Yes, they pretty much would because guess what? These sheep did it. It’s true, it’s real life. These sheep walked off a cliff, 400 died, 1,100 made it because they landed on their buddies and survived. They probably didn’t even know what happened.
Why did they do it? Because they didn’t have a shepherd. What is the point of all of this faulty reasoning you may say? Well, the point is, you need a shepherd. I need a shepherd. Who is our shepherd? Jesus is our shepherd.
Now, yes, you have leaders. We have bad shepherds here on Earth. These shepherds went off to have breakfast, and 400 sheep died. People like Hitler, Stalin, whoever, all these bad people became shepherds. They were bad shepherds. You have every single day cult leaders leading people into their deaths, suicides, mass kill – whatever. People start wars, bad shepherds.
You have one true good shepherd that will never leave you, and that is Jesus. How do we prove that? Well, let’s dive into the Bible. So, if you can, get your Bible. Turn with me to these Verses. We’ve got a lot of them today. We’re going to dive into them. We’re going to dig deep, and we’re going to talk about them.
Now, talk about this with your friends because through talking about it, you’re going to learn it, you’re going to understand it more. You can watch them. You can repeat the videos. You can watch them again. You can listen to them while you’re driving, while you’re working, whatever, but the point is if you don’t have your Bible now, re-listen to it, get your Bible, do it again later.
So, God’s people in the Bible are referred to as sheep. We are going to go to a very, very popular Verse. It is Psalms 100, Verse 3. Psalms 100:3 says, “Know that the LORD…” – capital L-O-R-D, so Yahweh – “…Know that Yahweh is God. It is He who made us, and we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”
So, we are the sheep of Yahweh’s pasture. Who is the shepherd? Well, it doesn’t say who the shepherd is right here, so we need to go somewhere else to find out who the shepherd is. That’s coming later. But, Yahweh, we are His sheep, the sheep of His pasture. So, there is no question – you are a sheep in His pasture.
Now, yes, some people may say, “Wait a minute, wait a minute, I’ve got a bone to pick with you.” Because maybe they don’t believe in the Bible, or if they do believe in the Bible and they say, “Well, Jesus was also called a sheep, the lamb of God.” Are we saying He is both the sheep and the shepherd? Are we saying He is both our leader and He is stupid? No, we are definitely not. We are saying right here the LORD is your shepherd.
Number one, you are His sheep. Number two, yes, Jesus was referred to as the lamb of God. Why was He referred to as the lamb of God? Well, Jesus died for you. His blood was your sacrifice. Now in the Old Testament sacrifices were made to wipe away sins. They had to take a lamb without defect, no blemish, and slaughter it to cleanse themselves from their sin.
Now, God said, “I cannot look upon these people anymore, I just can’t. They’re so horrible.” We are so dumb, we sin all the time, we follow people into bad decisions. So, He said, “I need to come up with a way – or not come up with – He has a way that He can look upon us and not want to kill us.
Because He is perfect – God is so good, and we are so bad – the only way He can look on us is if we have already been wiped clean. So, He sent Jesus to be this lamb without defect and die to wipe away our sins.
We’re going to go to Revelation 7:17. It says, “For the lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” So, the lamb at the center of the throne, Jesus, will be their shepherd. Will be our shepherd. So, this is saying that Jesus, the perfect lamb of God, will be our shepherd. Now, that again is just an illustration to say that Jesus is a sacrifice for the sins of the world.
To reinforce this, we’re going to go to 1 Peter 1:18 and 19. So, turn with me again, 1 Peter 1:18 and 19. If you’re not there, listen up – 1 Peter 1:18 and 19 says, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life, handed down to you from your forefathers,” holy moly.
So, first of all, this is, this is good. We’re going to unpack it here. You know it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold. That’s very, very valuable. Are you kidding me? You were redeemed. You were not redeemed with silver or gold. Or – from, from what? You were not redeemed from, listen to this, the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers.
So, basically, you have an empty way of life, and yet God still wants to redeem you from this empty way of life. How were you redeemed? With the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. Okay, there it is. Jesus was a lamb without blemish or defect sent as a sacrifice to you, for you, to redeem you from your empty way of life to cover for your sins so God could look upon you.
We’re going to go to John 1:29…John 1:29 says, “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.’”
So, what have we covered so far? What does this mean? Well, number one, you are sheep, we are sheep, the sheep of God, the father Yahweh’s pasture. Jesus was sent here. He is the lamb of God. Lamb as in sheep? No, lamb as in perfect without blemish, without defect, died for the sins of the world to cover you.
And, Revelation says the lamb, Jesus, will be our shepherd. So, we have people who are sheep, we have sheep who are dumb, and we have Jesus dying for us dumb sheep so we can go to Heaven. And, He will be our shepherd, the good shepherd.
So, let’s take a look at what sheep do, other than run off a cliff and die. Sheep are so stupid. Statistically, they are one of the most helpless creatures. Why are they helpless? Hello, because without the shepherd, they literally walked themselves off the cliff and died. The other ones didn’t die, but that was because they landed on all the fluffiness of the other sheep.
Now, they can literally – this is really kind of comical – if a sheep is drinking out of a stream, okay, they will literally drown themselves by watching the current and getting too focused on the current that they forget to lift their head, and they can drown. They are so helpless.
There are many other things. You can Google how stupid sheep are and look up all kinds of stories of sheep and their, really, stupidity. They can literally drown themselves in a stream because the reflections of the water, or the reflections of themselves, or the currents passing by, or any number of other things distract them from their purpose, and they die. Sound familiar?
You have a purpose here on Earth. There are all kinds of other things in your stream that could be distracting you from the purpose. The sheep’s purpose was to go get a drink of water. It got distracted. What happened? It died. What’s happening to you? Are you distracted from your purpose? Move on.
Sheep don’t travel. They’re not adventurous. They pretty much stay in one place, and they depend on someone all the time. Fully rely on God – you ever have that wristband FROG? Fully Rely On God. Okay, sheep are fully reliant on a shepherd.
Who is our shepherd? Jesus Christ is the only good shepherd. All these other shepherds could lead us off a cliff. Without a shepherd, these sheep in Turkey, led right off a cliff because the shepherds were bad. If they had a good shepherd, they would not have been led off a cliff.
So, you are a sheep. What do sheep do? They’re stupid. They don’t travel, they’re not adventurous, they depend on someone all the time. Does this sound like someone you want to be? Well, no, the only way you need to be like a sheep is that you need to depend on God. Depend on Jesus, He is your shepherd. You need to rely on Him. I mean this is very, very plain and simple. We have shown you, this is proven.
Okay, sheep are stupid, we’ve gone over that. We’ve shown people are sheep in the Bible. We are His sheep, the sheep of His pasture, we are His people, the sheep of His pasture, Yahweh’s pasture. We are sheep – Jesus refers to us as sheep, God refers to us as sheep, the Bible all over the place refers to us as sheep. Okay, point made. Sheep are stupid, point made. Sheep need a shepherd, point made.
A good shepherd, who is that shepherd? It is Jesus. Yes Jesus, the lamb of God was our sacrifice, wiped away our sins, and is now our shepherd. No one can snatch us from His hand. We must rely on God in everything we do.
Turn to Ezekiel Chapter 34, Verse 31. There is something important right here, Verse 31. It says, “You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture are people, and I am your God declares the Sovereign LORD” – capital L-O-R-D, Yahweh, so declares Yahweh. Again, we’re sheep.
John 10:14, we’re going there. John 10:14 says, “I am the good shepherd…” – This is Jesus speaking – “…I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.” Okay, so, Jesus knows you and you know Him. There are sheep. If you are a Christian, you know Jesus and He knows you. If you are not a Christian He knows you, but you are lost. You are a lost sheep off somewhere else. Jesus is our shepherd. He is the good shepherd. He knows us, we are His sheep.
Let’s go to John 26 to 28 of the same Chapter, Chapter 10, Verse 26 and 28. It says, “But you do not believe because you are not my sheep.” Okay, so, those are the people who are not Christians. They don’t believe, they don’t know Jesus, they are not His sheep, “My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me.” Here we go, let’s keep going. It says, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand.” Okay, this is very, very encouraging.
So, we’ve, we’ve shown that humans, people, we are sheep, sheep are stupid, sheep are lost, they need a leader. If we believe in Jesus Christ who died for our sins, wiped us clean, He was the perfect lamb of God without blemish, without defect, He died for us, we are now clean. We can trust in that fact that Jesus died for our sins.
He will become our good shepherd. We will follow Him, we will know Him, and He will know us. He will save us, and no one can snatch us from His hand – no one! How awesome is that? No one can snatch us from His hand.
So, therefore what will we do? We need to rely on God in everything. Every single thing we do, we need to be fully dependent on God. He must be your shepherd. He must be the only one to help you through any problem in your life.
Of course, you can seek counsel from others, partnerships, spouse, your wife, your husband. Okay, you can seek counsel, your friends, your family, your relatives. Yes, of course, they will help you here on Earth, but Jesus is your ultimate. You are a sheep, you cannot do it alone. Trust in God, He is your shepherd.
Let’s go to Psalms 23, a very, very, very popular Verse, Psalms 23, Verses 1 and 3 What does it say? Many people know it by heart.
I’m going to read it from the Bible – 23 Verses 1-3, “The Lord is my shepherd…” – Lord, Yahweh – “…is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me on paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
That’s huge, the Lord is your shepherd. Now, remember God and the Father are one, so even though the Old Testament here, this is David writing Psalms. He is saying that Yahweh is his shepherd, and in the New Testament, it says Jesus is our shepherd. God, the Father, Holy Spirit, trinity, three in one – they’re all one and the same.
Yes, we are His people, the sheep of His pasture, His meaning Yahweh the Father. Jesus the good shepherd came, died, the perfect lamb of God became our sacrifice to wipe away our sins. The point is humans are sheep, sheep are stupid, therefore we really are stupid. We don’t know right from wrong. We don’t know our right hand from our left a lot of times.
We need to be taught, we need a leader, we need a shepherd, we need a good shepherd. We can have leaders here on Earth. Of course, pastors, preachers, teachers, parents, all are hopefully exemplifying Jesus, and are being earthly leaders. And, then we have a heavenly leader, Jesus, who we also follow here on Earth. He is our good shepherd.
So, follow Him, trust in Him. He wiped away your sins. He is now your shepherd. You need a shepherd, and sheep, remember, are not adventurous. They don’t travel. They don’t really go anywhere unless someone else has gone there first, another sheep, a shepherd leads them, the rest follow blindly pretty much.
Is that what you want to do? Is that who you want to be, blind leading the blind, following the blind off a cliff? No, you want to be more, but you are to be a sheep in the fact that sheep rely on their shepherd. You need to rely on God, rely on Jesus Christ. He died for your sins, know that, trust in it, and fully rely on Him.
That is how you are to be like a sheep. The rest of your sheep nature, don’t take it. Don’t be so dumb, don’t be stupid. You want to break free of your comfort zone, you want to travel, you want to get out there.
We’re going to talk more about it next week, so make sure to stay tuned, set an alert on the premiere because it’s coming next week. And, in the meantime, be the sheep that fully rely on God. Trust in Him, and just know that you’re a sheep right now. Be okay with it. Rely on God, trust in it, and move on.
So, I know that this could have been a little dismaying, but it could also really help you when you say, “Why are people so stupid? Why don’t they understand?” Well, they can’t help it. They’re sheep, and people without Jesus are really lost. So, what can you do to help them? Well, share Jesus with them. We’re going to talk more about that next week.
So, for now, I really hope that you enjoyed the video. Please share it with others so that Social Media Ministries can fulfill its purpose, its mission of sharing the Bible with as many people as possible. Hit the like button, subscribe button, all of that, as well.
Let’s pray:
Father Yahweh thank you so much for this powerful message, this sobering message, and the realization that we really are stupid. We really are! We are sheep, and sheep really are, are dumb. Sheep need a leader, Lord. We want to follow you. You are the good shepherd, the only one worthy of us pledging our lives to. Lord, I ask that each and every person out there realizes and recognizes how serious this is. This is serious!
We as people we are sheep of your pasture. This is your pasture here. Now, obviously, we have a higher calling. We want to be in Heaven. That is where we belong, that is our Kingdom, that is where we live, we are people of that Kingdom. This world is not for us, we do not belong here, we are, right now, sheep in a foreign land. We need a leader, and we have one – we have Jesus Christ.
Lord, I ask that every person out there recognizes that Jesus Christ is their leader and that they will follow Him. Lord, please put that heavily on their hearts. Give them the desire to want to be more than a sheep, and that they will really trust in you, that they would dive into your Word, that these words from this message would hit home to them, and that they would talk about it with their friends and their family and share with others and that a change could be made.
Lord Jesus thank you so much for our time together today. I ask that you bless each and every one of the people out there listening, watching, and hearing this. Please open their minds and their hearts and their ears and let them see.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thanks again for tuning in and listening, sticking through this semi-heavy message, could be some sobering news to realize that we are sheep. It’s humbling, but humility is good. If we remain humble, we will be exalted and glorified by God, and that is what we want.
So, please, again, help us out, share the video, hit the like button, subscribe button, click on the bell icon because next week we have a great message that goes along with this. You don’t want to be a stupid dumb sheep. You want to be a sheep that relies on God. But, there’s more, and we will talk about that next week.
So stay tuned, and God bless.
