Without the guiding light of faith in Christ, they are like sheep without a shepherd, caught in a maze of moral confusion and spiritual aimlessness (Matthew 9:36).
The Bible reveals that unbelievers are separated from God due to sin, which blinds their hearts and minds (2 Corinthians 4:4). Their inability to understand the truth of the Gospel leaves them spiritually lost, unable to find the way to eternal life.
As Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Outside of Christ, there is no true direction, no hope of reconciliation with God.
This state of confusion and separation from God is not only a present condition but leads to eternal consequences if not addressed through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:36).
Ultimately, the Bible calls believers to share the light of the Gospel with the lost, offering them the path to salvation and truth.

So thank you so much. If you’re a first-time visitor, I’m so happy you found this video. Hopefully, it will be everything and more than you expect it to be. What we’re talking about today is that unbelievers are lost.
So if you are an unbeliever and you found this video, guess what? By the end of this message, you will no longer be lost. You will be found. You will be a part of the family. So we praise God for that.
You will become a brother or sister in Christ, in Jesus’ name. Alright, unbelievers are lost. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you are considered a believer, a Christian, a follower. There are many, many terms. “Believers” are pretty much the simplest, easiest, most well-known.
Christians, yes, but a lot of times nowadays, Christian, or “I am a man of faith,” or “I am faith-based.” Those terms don’t really mean what they should mean. They have been misrepresented throughout history and throughout society.
If you go back to the New Testament, that is the Christianity we need to bring back. Unfortunately, that is not the Christianity in many churches today. So if you believe in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is within you. That spirit needs to be on fire.
You gotta keep it going, and it needs to be showing its fruit in your life. That’s the type of Christianity we want. Signs and wonders. They follow those who do, which means you need to get out there and do the Word of God.
We have a sermon, “Be A Doer Of The Word.” Check it out in a card on our YouTube channel or on our website. Be a doer of the Word because when you do, the Holy Spirit will have signs and wonders to follow.
What are those? Miracles. Yes. You want miracles? You want to say, “Hey, where are the even greater things Jesus told us we would do?” That’s where they are. Start doing the Word. The Holy Spirit will follow through and have signs and wonders follow you. Alright. The Holy Spirit is within you.
We’re going to go to 1 Corinthians 3:16, a lot of verses today. All of them will be referenced in the description or on our website. Click them. Read before and after on the verses. Study these verses.
Get the context and understand what was being said at that time. Because even though it was at that time, they are still relevant today, and we’re going to show you how in this message. Alright, 1 Corinthians 3:16. “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s spirit dwells within you?”
You are a temple of God. That is, if you are a believer, you have the Holy Spirit within you, your body is a temple of God. The Holy Spirit dwells within you. If someone doesn’t know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, then they are without the Holy Spirit. We’ve got a couple more verses.
1 Corinthians 12:7, “Now to each one, the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” So, when you become a believer, the manifestation of the Spirit is given to you. For what?
For the common good. What does that mean? Well, spirits in bodies, the bodies will manifest the characteristics of that spirit. Alright? This goes both ways. This is the same. What are demons? They are fallen angels.
So, if a demon tries to inhabit someone or control them, we call it influence because possession does nothing. We still have free will. So when demons influence people and they are ‘demon possessed,’ so to speak, in quotes, it is demonic influence, we call it.
Now, what does that mean? If you are filled with anxiety or worry or dread, then that demon is manifesting in you, meaning, if you have anxiety and you take a pill for it, or something, the demon of anxiety is in you, and you are manifesting the characteristic of the name of the demon anxiety.
When the Holy Spirit is in you, you will have manifestations of the Holy Spirit. What does that mean? Holiness. What does holiness look like? You will be given the manifestation for the greater good, of holiness, love, joy, all of those gifts and fruits of the Spirit. They will come out in you. They will be manifested through your life.
Next verse, Acts 2:38. Acts 2:38 says, “Peter replied, ‘Repent, and be baptized. Every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” So, believers have the Spirit. Unbelievers do not have the Spirit.
Unbelievers are lost. They are without the Holy Spirit. But if you are an unbeliever and you are watching this, or maybe you are a believer but you say, “I don’t really know if I have the Holy Spirit,” repent and be baptized. What does that mean?
Well, I was baptized, water baptism. You need a baptism of the Holy Spirit as well. That can happen right now in Jesus’ name. Be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
Let the Holy Spirit come upon you, and you will receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Some evidence of that are signs, wonders, and also speaking in tongues, your own prayer language.
You will start to talk in a specific language between you and God. That will happen for you. If you have not been baptized, water baptized as an adult, then I encourage you, get out there and do that.
You say, “Well, it’s too late. I’m 45 years old,” or, “I’m 30 years old, or I don’t know. I don’t want to seem uncool.” Doesn’t matter. Get out there. Get water baptized.
If someone doesn’t know Jesus as their personal Savior, they are without the Holy Spirit. But they can repent and be baptized and have it. Those people who are unbelievers, they don’t have a guide like the believers do. They don’t have something helping them. Let’s go to another verse. John 16:13.
John 16:13 says, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own. He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” What is this talking about? The Spirit of Truth. When He, that is the Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit comes, He will guide you into all truth. What is truth? Right here, John 17:17b, “Your word is truth.” The Bible is truth. The Holy Spirit will come into you will fill you.
You will be filled with the Spirit. You will receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit when you are a believer in Christ. The Spirit will be in you and guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, meaning it doesn’t control you.
It doesn’t possess you or inhabit you. And you have will. It just lives in you. It dwells in you. We call it the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It dwells in you. He will speak only what he hears, meaning as the Spirit hears from God, it will talk to you.
Now, will it be like a voice, a conversation? No. Most of the time, when people hear voices, those are demon voices. They’re having conversations, or if they have multiple personalities, multiple demons.
Demons are bodiless personalities that try to inhabit people. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth, lead you into all truth. The Holy Spirit is the ultimate backseat driver. A demon wants the wheel. It’ll be like sitting in the passenger seat, trying to get you to steer.
The Holy Spirit sits behind you, talking in your ear, “Hey, turn here. It’d be great if you went left. It’d be great if you did this.” And it guides you into all truth, into the right path. Unbelievers, they are driven completely, though, by their sin-nature.
You say, “Well, I know a lot of unbelievers, and they seem to be pretty good people.” They probably are. If they have some type of religion or some type of moral compass guiding them, but still, they don’t have the certainty that comes with the Holy Spirit.
If someone is without the Holy Spirit, they really don’t know right from wrong. Yes, they know what the world says is right, and what the world says is wrong, but a lot of times that twists with time.
God’s Word is always true. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth, and it is timeless. Unbelievers, generally, or non-Christians, they live to satisfy their own desires. Let’s go to Galatians 5:16-17.
Galatians 5:16-17. “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other so that you are not to do whatever you want.”
You have the flesh, which is the body. You have the spirit, which is of God. What the spirit wants is often contrary to what the body wants. You say, “How do we know that?” Well, my body gets hungry and wants food.
The Holy Spirit says we need to fast. That’s opposite. My flesh as a male, we have a sexual drive, a sexual desire. The Holy Spirit says, “No, we don’t have that.”
A body may want to drink and be drunk, and happy, and laugh. The Holy Spirit says, “No, we don’t want that.” A human body may say, “Well, I would love to smoke something or get high or try this.” The Holy Spirit says no.
You don’t be high on any other things that are influencing you. You don’t let that happen. You see what I’m saying? The body might say, “You know what? I need a new suit, or I need a new watch.
Maybe I’ll walk into the department store, try one on, and then just walk out.” No. The Holy Spirit says, “That’s stealing. It’s wrong.” You get the picture.
The body has these desires. Our flesh, our sin nature, wants this stuff, but the Holy Spirit says no. They are always in conflict with each other. A body, a human body, especially non-believers—they’re always looking to avoid pain and withdrawal and seek pleasure of indulgence.
Like Freud says, “Avoid pain, seek pleasure.” He was talking about people without God. When you’re with God, you go after the truth, even if it can be uncomfortable. Even if it isn’t maybe pleasurable.
Because, why? Because in the long run it is, and you will be blessed. Most unbelievers are living completely in this world, 100 percent in this world. Whereas believers, we are not of this world.
Satan is the one that has dominion of this world. That is why, as believers, we are of a heavenly kingdom. We are not of this world. But unbelievers are lost, and they are of this world. So therefore, Satan and his demons are heavily influencing them. They could even be considered slaves. Let’s go to John 8:34.
John 8:34, Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” So, if unbelievers live in sin, because most of them are living in some type of sin, what do I mean by living in sin? Well, you take a look at very profound unbelievers that are living together and not married and engaging in sex before marriage, or fornication. That is a sin.
You take a look at people who have multiple abortions. Those are sins. You take a look at prostitutes. That’s sinning. You take a look at thieves, liars, cheats, swindlers. Those are all sins. They are living in those sins. They are choosing that lifestyle.
You take a look at people who are homosexual or gender identity confused. Those are sins that they are living in, because they are going contrary to the Word of God.
Now, if you are someone out there who is living that way and you don’t believe what we’re saying, I encourage you, take a look at the Bible, read the truth, and see what it says for yourself before you attempt to judge it. Let it speak to you. Give it a chance.
If you are living in a sin, you are a slave to that sin. People who are 300 pounds and who eat all the time are gluttons. That’s gluttony. That’s a slave to sin. Their body, their hunger for food, is controlling them.
And they say, “Well, I’m 280 pounds, and I’m taking a pill because I’m pre-diabetic.” Guess what? Stop eating so much. Get some exercise, and you might not be pre-diabetic anymore.
Now I understand that doesn’t fit in all circumstances, but take a look at another situation. “Oh, I have a terrible cough. I just can’t get rid of it. My doctor can’t figure it out.” And the doctor says, “Well, when you smoke two packs of cigarettes a day, you’re going to have a cough.” That’s the problem.
The patient says, “No, that’s not the problem. The problem is I have a cough.” Well, if you get rid of smoking the cigarettes, you probably won’t have the cough. Do you get what I’m saying? This person is addicted to the cigarettes, that’s a slave to that sinful lifestyle. You say, “Well, how is cigarettes a sin?” It’s an addiction!
When people are in Christ, they have broken free from that evil, and they live with a heavenly world in mind. Let’s take a look at some other verses. Romans 6:16-18.
Romans 6:16-18, “Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey? Whether you’re a slave to sin, which leads to death, or obedience, which leads to righteousness.
‘But thanks be to God that though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.’ ‘You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.’” No longer slaves to sin.
When you cross over from death to life, when you become a believer, you are no longer a slave to sin. But you say, “Well, I don’t want to be a slave to righteousness.” You will want to be. You will want to do what’s right. You will want to do the will of God.
Now, is that slavery if it’s your choice? No. What that is in the Greek, Paul calls this a bond servant. It means there’s a story in the Bible too that says if a servant has fulfilled his requirement but says, “I love my master, I want to stay and continue to work for them.”
The master is to take the servant to the doorpost and punch a hole in the ear with an awl, marking that person as a bond servant for life, and that person will be under the household of the master forever.
Now, it doesn’t mean they are beaten and whipped. No. Most of the time, if someone wants to be a bond servant, it means they’re well cared for and their master is loving and kind, and they have a great life with that master.
That’s the type of servant Paul is referring to here. We will become bond servants to righteousness. But before we were slaves to sin, where you might be beaten, or you might be engaging in a bad lifestyle. You’ll be reaping the consequences of it. But when you are a bond servant to righteousness, you will reap blessings.
Let’s go to Romans 6:20-23, a little further down. 20-23. “‘When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.’ ‘What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!’
‘But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves or bond servants of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.’ ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.’”
Now that you are a believer, you are able to discern right from wrong. Whereas unbelievers are not. They don’t have that gift of discernment. They don’t have the Bible, the truth to compare things against. They don’t have the Holy Spirit helping them interpret the words in the Bible. Let’s go to 2 Corinthians 5:17.
2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old is gone, and the new is here.” When you become a Christian, you are a new creation. You are no longer a slave to sin, but now you are a servant of righteousness. And you love doing the work of your Father, because He is a good Father.
People who don’t believe, if you’re still watching, often times you probably are saying, “This guy’s nuts,” because unbelievers are lost, and they regard discernment as foolishness. Don’t take my word for it. Let’s go to 1 Corinthians 2:14-15.
1 Corinthians 2:14-15. “The person without the Spirit does not accept things that come from the Spirit of God, but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”
What is this saying? It is saying that if you do not have the Holy Spirit, you cannot understand the truth in this book. Why? Because this truth is only revealed to you through the Spirit.
Discernment, you will not have if you do not have the Holy Spirit. You must have the Holy Spirit, and you will have discernment, because it is the Holy Spirit that provides that discernment.
So you need to be mindful when you see unbelievers that are lost doing things that you say, “That’s wrong, that’s not right.” They may not know better. They don’t have that discernment yet. Try not to hold the actions of the unbelievers against them. You shouldn’t hold any actions against anyone because you must forgive.
We have an entire series on “Forgiveness.” Check that out in a card up here. Go to our website, type in “Forgiveness.” It’s a four-part sermon series. Most of the time the unbelievers do not really know what they’re doing.
They are slaves to sin. They are following the way of their master, and they don’t really know what’s going on. So you must forgive them and help lead them into righteousness. Help correct them. Lead them into all truth. You must forgive.
Jesus says in Luke 23:34, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” He knew they were slaves to sin. So when you go through life, remember, unbelievers are lost. They may not know better.
But if you see Christians messing up, then yes, by all means, Scripture is used for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. In the book of Matthew it says, “Between the two of you, correct them.”
We had a sermon about that topic, so go check that out on our website. It was only a couple weeks ago. You can check that one out—excellent sermon.
The point is, you need to help reach the lost, and remember that when you see the actions going out in the world, remember they are lost. Pray for them, love on them, and help lead them into all truth.
Let’s pray.
Father, thank You so much for this message today. I ask that each and every person out there, if they are believers, that they would be inspired, that they would be hungry for Your Spirit.
That they would stir up the Spirit within them, that they would do what they can, that they would do the Word, that they would read the Word, that they would pray with You, that the Spirit would stir up within them, and they would be hot, on fire for You.
And Father, if there are any unbelievers watching, when they’re watching, that they would be interested in this, that they would want to learn more.
Lord, have them go to our website and learn more about us and what Social Media Ministries believes and does. And have them reach out to us, that they would be desiring Your Word, that they would be hungry for Your Word, and that You would feed them and give them drink.
In Jesus’name, Amen.
If you’re watching and you haven’t made the decision to follow Christ, it’s very, very easy. Just invite Him into your life, “Dear Jesus, I’m sorry for my sins. Please come into my life. I want to live for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
And guess what? If you need help with that or you want us to pray with you or for you, reach out to us on our website. Join us on Discord, talk to us there, reach out on social media. We will be there to help you.
