You must be careful who and what you support. Supporting sin is sin no matter your level of support. If you support people or causes whose actions and beliefs are sinful, that is a sin.

Each endorsement you give sends a message, shaping perceptions and influencing others in your community. Therefore, you must pay attention and dig deeper if you attend or support causes, events, activities, people et cetera.

If you align yourself with figures or causes that legitimize wrongdoing, you are directly supporting sin which is a sin in and of itself. This is why you need to know exactly what those entities stand for.

Therefore, be vigilant with your support, and choose to advocate for those who embody the principles of justice, compassion, and accountability. The weight of your influence carries responsibility—use it wisely.

Hello, and welcome to Social Media Ministries. My name is Spencer Coffman. Thank you so much for being with us this week.

I hope that you have taken advantage of those share icons on our previous messages or sermons. Use them. Share on social media.

In addition, if you haven’t yet, please consider subscribing to this channel and liking the video or audio that you are watching or listening to. Doing so helps us reach more people with these great words.

Today we’ve got a good sermon for you — one that might shake you up a little bit and cause you to take a look at your life and even the lives of those around you, and maybe re-examine things, decide where you’re spending time, what you’re doing, where you’re spending your money, your resources, because guess what?

All of that is a gift from God, and if you’re not stewarding it wisely, then you may not get more. Yes, that’s true. God will continue to give you more if you are using what He is giving you wisely. That includes your money, your time, your talents, your gifts, your abilities, the things in your life, your possessions, your family, everything.

Everything you have comes from the Father. So, treat it well, take care of it. Use it wisely. Be a good steward. We have a sermon on that, “Be A Good Steward,” or “Stewardship.” So, do that and guess what? You will be blessed with more.

You spend your time wisely on Earth, you could live a longer life, that’s an incentive right there. So, make sure to take a look at your life. Let these words in this message really sink in, and decide if you’re following it or not. Because if you’re not, then you might need to do a little correction and get in there.

What are we talking about? Well, if you know the title from finding it online already, then you have an idea. But if you’re just watching or listening, because you’re around or someone else has played this for you, we’re talking about supporting sin.

Now you might say, “Well, I’m a Christian. I’m a religious person,” or, ‘I believe in God,’ or, ‘I believe in Jesus, I don’t support sin.’

You may be supporting sin even though you think you’re not, and that’s what I mean by this might shake you up a little bit, or you need to take a look at your life, and make sure you’re not supporting things that are either sinful in nature, or that are promoting something else that is sinful or ungodly.

Because if you support that, or you engage in that, or throw in your lot, as the Bible might say, then you are sinning. Yes, it could be a little harsh, so let’s dive in. Let’s take a look at this.

If you support anything that is contrary to the Bible, that’s a sin. So if you’re supporting something, anything, no matter what it is, if it goes against what the Bible says, that is a sin because it’s against the Bible. Romans 1:32, let’s read that verse.

Romans 1:32 says, “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things, but also approve of those who practice them.”

Alright, hopefully you’re not this bad, but if you are doing the things contrary to the Bible, that’s definitely a sin, so make sure you’re following what the Bible says. Then, if you are starting to approve of those who do them, that’s also sinful, so don’t approve of it.

Well, what? Let’s define before we get any further. What does “approve of” and what does “support” mean? We could take any issue — take abortion. That’s a very popular topic, or you could take same-sex marriage, very popular topic, or you could take gender mutilization or changing — very popular topic.

All controversial — all the Bible is clear about, but take any one of them. Take a simple one — murder, lying — doesn’t matter. Take any topic, and if you are supporting, what does support mean? Well, support could be very obvious. Let’s say there’s an abortion. We’ll use that.

If you attend a pro-choice, meaning “pro, for” choice,” choosing abortion, if you go there, you are in support of what they are rallying about, abortion. That would be sinful. You’re supporting something against the Bible.

Now, if you attend or support a pro-life, so against abortion, rally, or conference, or seminar, or picketing or whatever, then there’s a debate on whether that protest or whether the picketing is sinful, depending on what the actions of the people are, but that is for life, meaning against abortion. That’s okay.

So, you need to make sure if you’re going there, you’re showing your support. You could also be supporting things unknowingly, for example, if you support a big company, or if you support a church that supports one of those things, you are indirectly supporting that sin.

For example, let’s say that you want to vote for a certain political candidate and that candidate says, “I will promote abortion and make sure everyone has access to it, and I will support same-sex marriage, and I will allow people to choose their gender, or their sex, and have surgery to change it.”

If you vote for that person, you are indirectly supporting those things against the Bible. That is a sin. So you need to make sure that you know where you are throwing in your lot. Who are you being yoked with? What cause are you joining with? What cause are you supporting?

This could be the same for businesses. If you shop at a certain business and that business outwardly promotes some certain political agenda or topic, then you need to make sure your money is not supporting that.

Now, I realize this could be very difficult, but control what you can and reduce the spending in certain areas. If there is no other place you can shop, then you might not have a choice, but do what you can to limit that.

It’s very clear. You know what God’s decreeing. You do those things; if you don’t follow, you deserve death. If you do the such things that God says not to do — death, sin — the wages of sin is death. Not only do you continue to do them, but if you start supporting them and approve of those who practice them, that’s sin as well.

So what does “approve of” mean? Well, of course, giving your approval, saying it’s okay, agreeing with you, you need to be vocal. You can’t be passive. Sometimes, not taking action is an action of itself.

So, if there’s someone who is supporting elementary school children deciding whether they want to change, and be a male or a female, and you say, “Okay, whatever. I’m not going to get involved,” that might be showing your approval to that. You need to have a stance. What is the stance you need to have? Right here, the Bible.

“The Bible says it’s not okay.” That is your position. End of story. You don’t get to waver. You don’t get to choose. If you are a Christian and you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you have a stance and a position on everything. It’s time for you to learn and understand what that is; that stance is the Bible.

If you don’t know what you think, then tell someone, “You know what, I don’t know enough about this right now, but let me get back to you.” Go consult your Bible, reach out to us, consult your pastor, and learn, “what does the Bible say about this issue,” and then go back to that person — “Here’s my stance.”

And they say, “Why, you,” and then they insult you with all these terms, with close-minded, racist, bigot, whatever. They say all these things that they don’t even know. “You’re a hater,” — no! This is my stance, and this is why, because this is what the Bible says, and this is my faith, and this is what I believe.

Therefore, life is precious. The family is important. Marriage is between a man and a woman. We were all created in the image of God. Boom. That answers every issue. Know your stance. So, what else? Supporting sin.

Well, we could take it even further, and this is where you need to start paying more attention. If you listen to music or a popular song and it might be about just sex or hooking up, having casual sex or relationships, or saying that these things are fun and okay, that is sinful.

If you watch certain TV shows, and they portray high school students, or casual sex, or “you’re with him, and now you’re with him, and now you’re with her, and now this, and that, and none of them are married, but they’re all sleeping around,” that’s sinful!

Don’t support it by spending your time watching those things or listening to those things. Don’t put that in your mind, which is a gift from God, and so pollute yourself.

If you also watch movies or TV shows where the bad guys, and you’re sitting there rooting and cheering for the bad guys, well, the bad guys might be doing things that are sinful. That’s not good.

Now I’m not saying, “Oh, you can’t watch any TV.” I’m saying you need to be selective. Pick your battles and your issues. Bad people cannot be portrayed as more likable than good people and the righteous.

Now, sometimes, TV shows have the bad guys, who are actually doing the right thing or are standing up for themselves, and the good guys are wicked and immoral.

And so, if the bad guys, then, you’re cheering for them because they’re actually doing the right thing, that’s okay. So you need to have discernment. How do you get discernment? Pray and ask God for discernment.

Ask Him for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and you will be able to tell whether something is good or bad, right or wrong, whether you should be watching a show, or a movie, reading a book or listening to a song, whether you should let others do the same, your children.

Maybe sometimes men, men of the house, Christ says you are the head of the household, as Christ is the head of the church. Maybe sometimes you might need to preview that beforehand.

Or you might need to reach out to your pastor, or you could reach out to us, or you could use some online resources, and read some Christian reviews of these things, and then make a decision for your family, whether or not this is okay.

Even before you let your wife see it, because you might need to be the person who tests it, so to speak. That means if you are not strong enough to do that, this is a great time for you to start being more firm in your faith. You need to make the sacrifice so that you can protect your family. You need to be the protector for them. Live into your calling, step up and do it.

Also, if you attend churches that teach unsound doctrine, or you support other faiths, or you have items in your home from other religions like, maybe you have a Buddha statue, or a Shiva, or a Vishnu, or Zeus, or Athena, or any of these Greek, or Roman gods, or Hindu, or Buddhist, or other religions, or maybe you have a Catholic rosary, or something like that.

If you have those things in your home, the Book of Mohammed, maybe even, if you have those things, that could be seen as supporting that faith. Now, books are a little different. You could be a Christian or a pastor, even, and you could have books of other faiths for reading and for study to understand other religions. That’s fine.

Why is that fine? Because you’re learning about that. You’re strong enough to understand their beliefs, why? With the intention of understanding their culture and their people, so that you can be apologetic.

Now I’m not saying be sorry. Apologetics — defending the faith so that you can then talk about Christianity with them and understand what it is that they believe and why they believe that. So that part, that’s okay.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean you should be openly displaying, “Look, I’ve got the Quran,” “Look, I’ve got the Book of Mohammed,” “Look, I’ve got this, I’ve got this.” No, because then if other people come to your house and they see that, they might be like, “Hmm, why is, why does he have that?”

But this is definitely true for idols, or other images of other gods, or things of other faiths. And especially if you attend those churches, such as the Mohammeds, or the Muslims, or even some Catholic churches. The Pope recently said, “Hey, guess what?” This was maybe like a year ago. “We welcome all marriages. We’ll even marry same-sex marriages.” Well, wait a minute.

That’s not right. So, if you are Catholic, and your money is supporting the Catholic Church, I mean, there are a number of things that the Catholic Church does against the Bible, but this is one of them. I mean, at what point are you going to say, “Enough is enough!”

Supporting those things is sinful. It’s contrary to the Bible. If you are a Christian, you need to engage in Christian behaviors. You need to do what Jesus would do. We have an entire sermon on that, “WWJD.” Go check it out. Let’s go to James.

James is an excellent book. Very truthful, very direct, kind of like we are. James 4:17, what does he say? “Anyone then who knows the good they ought to do doesn’t do it, sins.”

Alright, so if you know the right thing to do, if you know what’s right and you choose not to do it or you don’t do anything because you’re like, “Well, I want to avoid conflict,” or, “I’m not going to get involved,” — guess what? You’re sinning.

By not doing the right thing, you sin. That means you need to take action. James is all about taking action. He says, Be a doer. We have a sermon on that, “Be A Doer Of The Word.” You gotta get out there. Take action and do.

Now, of course, Jesus may have come across sinful behaviors. Did He engage in them? No, definitely not. Did He support them? No, definitely not. Did He go to eat with sinners? Yes, He did. But did He help them sin? Did He give His approval to their wrong actions? No. He kindly corrected them each and every time.

So, does this mean you can’t go to a bar or a gay pride parade, or some type of rally? No, it doesn’t mean that, but you need to think in your mind, “Is that the right place to bring up or to preach the gospel?” Most of the time, it’s not. You shouldn’t be at a bar preaching the gospel.

Why? Because people are drinking, and some people are probably drunk, which is a sin. It’s not a sin to drink, but it’s a sin to get drunk because you’re losing control. You’re putting your mind out. God gave you your mind as a gift, and if you’re gonna drink, and get drunk, and throw that away, that’s wrong.

Maybe then you will never have your mind again. God might just take it from you, and you could be like Nebuchadnezzar, a wild beast in the field for seven years, eating grass and drinking dew. So think about these things. Going to a gay pride parade is probably not a good place to be standing on the corner, preaching about Jesus.

Now, of course, all of those people are probably sinners, and so you do want to reach them, but that might not be the right time to do so. Remember, Solomon says, “there’s a time for everything.” It’s a great passage, and it’s often read at weddings or funerals, but people don’t stop to think about it, so start thinking about these things and make sure your timing is right.

Now, it could be a good place to reach people, but oftentimes it might not be. Like, if you go to a riot, are you gonna expect to preach there? No, these people are rioting — they’re not in their right minds. They’re crazy. Yes, you want to reach them, but that might not be the right opportunity.

So you have to have discernment. All right, let’s take a look at some scriptural examples about Jesus. So we’re gonna first go to Matthew 9:11-12.

Matthew 9:11-12, “When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ On hearing this, Jesus said, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.’”

So Jesus heard the Pharisees asking the disciples about this, and then chimed in Himself and said, “Hey, it’s the sinners we need to reach, not the healthy people.” You don’t go to a church as a member of the congregation and start preaching. No, that’s where the saying preaching to the choir came from. We’re already in the same mind here.

You gotta go out into the world and preach. Not to certain places sometimes, but still, you gotta reach those people. Let’s go to Mark. Mark 2:17 says, “On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but the sinners.’”

He already had the righteous. He wants to change hearts and minds for Him. You need to be doing the same thing — winning people to Christ.

Let’s go to Galatians 6:1-2. “Brothers, if someone is caught in sin, you who are spiritual should restore them gently, but watch yourself, or you too may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

So help others out of sin, but be careful, or you could be caught in that as well. You might be tempted. We have a sermon, “Pull You Down.” They will pull you down. So you need to be careful who you associate with. Because if you’re not, you will be led astray as well.

This is the same type of theme. Know where you are showing your support. Know who you are supporting. Know what they believe. Know what they stand for. Because if they stand for something that’s against the Bible, you cannot be supporting them. You cannot be approving them.

If Jesus had social media, He wouldn’t be putting His like, or a heart, or a double tap, or whatever, on movies or books or TV shows that support or portray these sinful things. Neither should you. Jesus wouldn’t be shopping at certain places that boldly proclaim they support certain agendas or movements.

There’s a major store out there, in every single state practically, and they have openly declared they support pride, and gay marriage, and sex changing, and they’ve even released clothing lines to accommodate for people in transition.

Should you be shopping there? Should you be giving them your money? Should you be showing your support? No, you shouldn’t. So, try to shop somewhere else.

If you want to know what that store is, you can reach out to us. We’re not going to speak against them in so many words, but you should know what’s going on in your community and in your world and know where your money is going.

Now, is that possible all the time? No, but within reason, make an effort. Because if you are going there, and you are shopping there, or you are attending these things, you are showing your support.

If you are posting about them on social media, or giving them likes, or hearts, or telling other people to watch it, or recommending them, or leaving your reviews, then you are publicly supporting and promoting those sinful things. That is sin. Don’t support it. Don’t portray sin as okay. Don’t support the idea that sinful behavior is okay.

Don’t support or approve of that ungodly behavior because doing so is sinful in and of itself. So you need to be very careful what you like, what you attend, and what you support. Remember, you are called to be in the world, not of the world.

So you can be here, but be careful you don’t want to get pulled down, because you might. So correct, and reprove, but be careful lest you be led astray as well. In the world, not of the world. Let’s go to John 17:16 for a little bit more on that. “They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.”

So you live here, but you are not of here. You are a citizen of Heaven. You need to be following Jesus. Let’s go to Hebrews 10:26-27. 10:26-27, “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”

So, now that you know the truth, once you learn the Bible, if you continually choose to disobey, then guess what? What’s the point? You’re choosing to disobey the very thing you’ve learned on. Then what’s left for you? Hell, raging punishment.

So accept the forgiveness of Jesus, and work hard to follow Him. Now I’m not saying you’re never going to sin again. We all sin, but know when you do fall, or stumble, it is time to seek repentance and forgiveness, and get back up and keep going, fighting that fight, running the race for Christ.

Let’s pray.

Lord Jesus, thank You so much for these messages. I ask that you would inspire each and every person to take a good look at their life, and at the lives of those around them, and at their communities, and decide — are they supporting sinful behavior?

Have them look around their home and really examine, what do the movies look like on my shelf? What do the books look like? What are the decorations and knick-knacks?

Are they portraying idols, or foreign gods, or other cultures of divinity? Have them reevaluate everything. Where are they shopping? Where are they, how are they voting? Let them look at that and just strive to be more like You. To support godly people.

And God, give them godly people. If there aren’t any politicians in their area, rise one up. If there isn’t a store to shop at, open one. Let the Christian businesses be known, so that your people can support your people, and build your Kingdom here on Earth, as it is in Heaven. In the world, but not of the world.

In Jesus’name, Amen.

If you have any questions or comments, or concerns, please feel free to post them below. We want to help you engage. We want to build the Kingdom here on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Have a great week, and God bless.
