God calls us to be thankful in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18), not just when life is going well. True thankfulness is a choice—a daily reminder that God is faithful, present, and always working on your behalf.
This sermon reveals how to keep God at the center of your thoughts by creating personal reminders that help you stay thankful throughout your day. Whether it’s a bracelet, a cross, or even something as simple as noticing a car with one headlight out, small reminders can point your heart back to God’s goodness.
As 2 Chronicles 15:2 says, “The Lord is with you when you are with Him.” When you seek Him with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13), you’ll find that He’s been with you all along.
You’ll also learn why meditating on Scripture day and night (Joshua 1:8, Deuteronomy 6:6–8) is the key to prosperity, peace, and spiritual growth. True meditation isn’t about emptying your mind—it’s about filling it with God’s Word.
The Holy Spirit is your teacher, guiding you into all truth and reminding you of God’s promises that are already “Yes and Amen” in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Through powerful verses like Psalm 106:1, Ephesians 5:20, and 1 Chronicles 16:34, this message challenges you to replace worry with worship and fear with faith.
Gratitude transforms your heart and opens your eyes to the blessings already around you. When you begin to thank God in every circumstance, you’ll see His provision, protection, and purpose unfold in your life.
Take this message as your reminder to be thankful—every day, in every moment. Start your own thankfulness reminder today and watch your faith and joy grow as you continually praise God for His goodness, mercy, and love that endures forever (Psalm 107:1).

You need reminders to be thankful in your everyday life. We are talking about how you need to have a thankfulness reminder. Well, let’s dive into that. Hopefully, by now, you have found something to remind you that God is always with you.
2 Chronicles 15:2 says, we’re going to go to the second part of it. 15:2b–2 Chronicles 15:2b, “The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. But if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.”
Exactly like it says, uh, Jeremiah, um, 29 maybe 13–29:13 Jeremiah 29:13. Uh, the Lord is with you. No, wait a minute. Now, if you seek Him, you will find Him. When you seek Him with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13. There it is.
Couple weeks ago, if you–if you were with us, you said, “Oh, I w–I wish you would give me like the whole scripture, the whole reference when you come up with the scriptures when the Holy Spirit reveals them to you.” Right there. That was it.
That was the whole thing. I didn’t have that in my notes. I didn’t have that prepared. But guess what? The Holy Spirit brought it to you. Why? Because the Holy Spirit is your teacher. I am the vessel. You can do what I can do. Just allow the Holy Spirit to flow through you.
That verse totally came. Was not planned. Like I told you before, my notes are like a hundred words. These sermons are like 2,000. That either means I talk a lot about nothing or the Holy Spirit is coming through. Amen.
If you seek Him, you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. God is with you when you are with Him. If you forsake Him, He will forsake you. So hopefully you found that reminder. Whether you carry a cross in your pocket, you wear a necklace, you have a bracelet.
I got this one. It’s a barbed wire. Every once in a while, a barb falls off. But it reminds me that we are persecuted in Christ. And that there are Christians out there persecuted, that we need to remember to pray for all the time. Whatever it is, God loves it when you have a reminder.
When you use something to remind yourself of him. We have a whole sermon on it called “Use Reminders.” Now, this isn’t using idols. It’s not idols of things where you–where you have an idol to represent something, and you worship it.
No, this is a reminder that points to God. It’s not idols. It’s not false gods. It is reminders in life. The best thing you can do is to have a thankfulness reminder in your everyday life. And I’m going to give you some practical tips for that later on in this sermon.
But God needs to be on your mind every moment of every day. It–He needs to be in your mind. He’s in your spirit. If you are born again, you are a Christian. You believe in the Lord Jesus, and you are saved. You and your household, what is that? Acts 1:9.
Maybe believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. Maybe it’s Acts 1:10. I’m not sure. Acts. Nope. It’s not either of those. But you can Google that. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. And you can find that reference.
It’s your job to study this out and dive deeper into this. Hopefully, you take this sermon, and it’s 20 minutes. Maybe you watch it for 20 minutes. Then maybe you watch it again for another 40 minutes, pausing it and searching these things out and taking notes.
I don’t know what works for you. But somehow you gotta take this information that’s coming to you, and you need to internalize it well enough so that you can speak with authority on these topics to other people, because I am not the only teacher here.
I’m not even a teacher. It’s the Holy Spirit that flows through me to teach you. And then you need to go and do the same thing and teach others. Let–by letting the Holy Spirit flow through you. The Holy Spirit is the teacher that will guide us into all truth first. Check that verse out.
The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. Type it into Google, and it’ll pop right up. It needs to be on your mind every moment of every day. Let’s go to Joshua. Joshua 18.
Joshua 18 says, “Keep this book of the law always on your lips. Meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” I mean, we could do a whole sermon on that one verse.
Keep the book of the law always on your lips. It needs to be always on your lips. Meditate on it day and night. You don’t need all this other meditation. What is it? Mindfulness meditation and transcendental meditation. Those are like the two types. Both of them are of the devil.
Get rid of it. Mindfulness clears your mind. Okay? Or lets thoughts flow freely. You don’t want any thoughts flowing freely, overwhelming your mind. What does the Bible say? Keep this book of the law always on your lips.
Meaning you need to make your mind, your soul, your psyche obedient to Christ. That means it needs you need to have scripture in there. Not empty it out, or let it flow freely. Transcendental meditation. What does that focus on? A mantra.
Well, saying these mantras is also number one, clearing your mind, and putting a mantra in there. Also, these mantras are from far eastern religions like Buddhist practices generally, or Shaolin monks, or temples, or all these things that are like Buddhism or Hinduism.
And those mantras, like specifically the one “ohm” that is literally calling on a demon, asking for higher powers from actually lower levels. Supernatural, but it’s actually not angelic or godly; it is not the Holy Spirit. It is–you’re calling on demonic practices.
So when you do that, you are inviting them to come into your life. Bad idea. What does this say? Meditate on it day and night. What? The book of the law. This is the only thing you should be meditating on. Period.
You don’t believe me? You say, “Well, I like to do that, and I don’t believe.” No. Then you’re saying you don’t believe the Bible. You have two options. Believe the Bible or leave. That’s it.
God says, “I want complete obedience. I want you to follow me.” So, you need to follow the Bible. If it’s in the Bible, you gotta study it. You gotta learn it. If you’re offended right now, the Bible also says, “Don’t be offended.” Truth hurts.
Sometimes you might need to make a change in your life. If you say, “I love meditation and what it does for me because it makes me feel energized.” Where is that energy coming from? You need to be energized by the Holy Spirit.
If you’re not being energized by the Holy Spirit, you’re being energized by some other spirit. Guess what people call alcohol: liquid courage. That’s energy. Where is that energy coming from? Alcohol literally means ‘The ghoul’ in Arabic.
Alcohol, we also call it spirits. Spirits are what? You want the Holy Spirit. You don’t want other spirits. See what I’m saying? You say, “I never thought of that before.” That’s right. But now you have. Think about it. Meditate on it because it’s from the Scriptures.
Meditate on this. Study it out. Learn it. And then apply it to your life. And if you say, “Well, that means I need to give up alcohol. That means I need to give up meditation.” Yeah, probably. Meditate on this. Study this.
Get your courage from this because guess what? Jesus says, “If you come to Him, you will never thirst again.” You don’t need to thirst for alcohol. Have him and never be thirsty. End of story. What else? Deuteronomy 6:6-8.
Deuteronomy 6:6-8 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.
‘Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.’” Now, what does this mean? It means that God wants the word in you.
The Bible also says, “He has written his word on our hearts.” Psalms, Proverbs both of them have sayings in there that say, He is on your hearts. How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. That’s a verse.
God wants to impress his virtue, his commandments on the tablet of your heart. You can search that out. Those are verses. It doesn’t mean that you need to impress them on your children. Like, take this and push it in there.
Or, oh, I have this–this amulet that’s a metal engraved, and I’m going to push it really hard on my child’s skin, and that’s on there. Or I’m going to heat them up as a brand, and I’m going to brand them with a verse.
No, that’s not what this is talking about. But guess what? The Bible seeks to pervert the word of God. That’s a perversion. People do that. Religions do that. They take and impress people with brands and literally brand things on them to represent scripture.
No, that’s not what that is. That’s demonic. That’s the devil perverting the truth. What else? Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Okay.
Talk about the Bible all the time. That’s what that means. What else? Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Okay. Does that mean we literally need to wrap up things and put things on us?
No. But guess what? Some religions do that. Orthodox Judaism is one of them. And they tie these boxes on their heads, and they wrap their arms with bands. And it’s like a–a way of–of learning things.
Some Orthodox other religions used to like beat themselves as–as a–a form of persecuting or punishing the flesh because it says crucify the flesh. So they’re literally trying to reenact the crucifixion on their own body.
All of that is of the devil. That is a perversion of what God has made pure. That is what the devil does. Seeks to what? Steal, kill, and destroy. He wants to steal Truth. Kill body, destroy soul. Or steal your health. Kill your body, destroy your soul.
He’s stealing, killing, and destroying. So if you are seeing like, okay, I got to tie this on my hand. I got to put something on my forehead. I–I need to make sure I have rings and reminders and necklaces and this and that and putting it on my doorposts and writing it on my gates.
No. This is saying you need to know the word of God. It is saying that if you abide in him, he abides in you. You are the vine and the branches. That’s where that comes from. What? The vine and the branches.
If you abide in him, you’ll bear much fruit. But if you’re not, then the Father will come along and cut it off. Meaning you will get cut off. So if you’re doing these other things and you’re getting misled by traditions, by traditions of who?
Man, because man tells you, “Oh, bind it on your forehead. Make sure you have this scroll on all your doorposts. Make sure you do this. Make sure you do that. That’s a tradition of man. Oh, but it’s in the Bible.”
Yes, but you need to understand what is meant here. God is not saying, “Okay, just put this here and put this here and have this here and then you’ll be good.” No, he’s saying you need to live this out. That everything that you have is a representation of God.
That you are a citizen of heaven. When you are born again, you are a citizen of a new kingdom, of the heavenly kingdom. That means what? That means that your house here on earth, that needs to be an embassy because you are not a citizen of this earth.
You are a citizen of heaven. So where you live and dwell, that is like sovereign territory of heaven. That means it better be blessed. That means your faith better be in God. That means that everything around your home, people need to feel that. Like when you enter on to an embassy, you are literally entering on to foreign soil in a for in another land.
Like, if you go to the Russian embassy here in the United States, you are entering Russian land in the United States. When someone comes onto your property, your house, they are entering heavenly territory here on earth.
And it is your job to expand that territory. That means when you go to the Russian embassy, it’s beautiful. It’s not some rundown shack. It’s fenced. It’s guarded. It’s nice. It’s kept pure because that represents their motherland, their homeland.
Same thing if you go on to embassies in other countries of the United States. It represents the US. It looks great. Your house, your place where you dwell, if you are a citizen of heaven, that is like an embassy of Heaven.
It needs to represent heaven. Now, I’m not saying it has to be fancy and this and that. I’m saying that what you have, you need to care for. You need to show respect to. You need to be a good steward of it. We’ve had a sermon on “Being a good Steward.” Check that out.
You need to always be thankful. You have reminders that remind you of God throughout your life. Now, you need to have thankfulness reminders. You need to have reminders to be thankful all the time. Let’s go to 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
1 Thessalonians 5:18. “Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Give thanks in all circumstances. Not just the good, not just the bad, but in all circumstances. Giving thanks, you need to always be thankful.
We have a sermon on that. This is so important, guys, because when you pray, your prayers should really be of thankfulness to God. Thanking him for everything that he has done for you, not prayers begging God for more things.
Not prayers begging God for different situations or circumstances because oftentimes the things you’re begging God for, he’s already given to you. He’s already promised he’s already done because what does Paul say in the New Testament, all things are what yes and amen in Christ Jesus.
So that means all the promises that God has in the Bible are already fulfilled, you say, “Well, He promised my health, and I’m sick.” Then command your healing! Let the health from the Spirit of God that resides in you, the Spirit that raises the dead into your flesh, and heal your bod,y or have someone help you do that.
You say, “Well, God promised prosperity and success. You just read Joshua 1:8, and I’m not prosperous and successful.” Yes, but did you understand Joshua 1:8? Meditate on the Scripture day and night. Do not let the book of the law depart from your lips.
Talk about them. All this stuff. Be careful to do everything written in it. Then you’ll be prosperous and successful. That’s what Joshua 1:8 says. Do everything written in it. Then you’ll be prosperous and successful.
You say, “Well, I’m not prosperous and successful.” Then maybe you’re not doing what’s written in the Word. All these promises are yes and amen. Meaning, you have everything God gave you. You have everything you will ever need.
God’s not going to give you more. You say, “Well, how do I advance?” He already gave it to you. You just need to receive it. You just need to believe it. And it and more will happen. It will happen. But it’s already happened. It’s a different way of thinking. It’s faith.
You have to live by faith. You need to be thankful. You say, “Well, I need $1,000 to pay my rent. I don’t know where it’s coming from.” It’s coming from God. Thank you, God, for paying my rent. You say, “My rent’s not paid yet.”
Thank you, God, for paying my rent. Because you believe that He will pay it. You say, “How does that work?” I don’t know. Believe it. When you ask anything, what? It says in Matthew, believe that you have already received it.
Of course, you need to be asking in His name. You need to be asking according to His will. So, what does that mean? That you just need to ask people for God to heal them? No. God commanded you to heal them.
God commands you to do certain things. You need to do them. How do you know which is which? You need to study the Bible. Meditate on this day and night. Learn this. Hopefully, our sermons are helping you do that.
But today, we’re talking about how you need to have a thankfulness reminder in your life. You need to remember to be thankful to God because he has blessed you abundantly. You need to start seeing it.
When you do, your faith will be increased because you will see how God has been faithful to you. And then you will know, like, okay, he can be trusted. Obviously, you know he can be trusted, but you need a reminder to stretch and improve your faith. Let’s go to Ephesians 5:20.
Ephesians 5:20. “Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” You need to be giving thanks. So, find a thankfulness reminder in your life. Pick some object.
Remember, I said we were going to give you some–some tips. Pick something, and every time you see it in your life, just take a couple seconds and thank God for one thing that day. Let’s go to Psalms.
Psalms 106:1. “Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” Psalms 107:1, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” That means his love is enduring for you.
If God loves you, he’s going to provide for you. That’s a given. He’s going to give you good–good gifts as it says in Matthew, when Jesus is saying, “How much more will God give to you?” Remember, you are worth more than many birds.
We have a sermon on that, “More than Birds.” Check it out. Not even the flowers, not even Solomon in all his splendor, was clothed as beautiful as the flowers in the fields, the lilies which are here today, gone tomorrow, thrown in the fire, Jesus said.
So, don’t worry about what you’re going to eat or what you’re going to wear because God knows you need these things. But what does Matthew 6:33 say? “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you as well.”
So, that rent money; it’s coming. Don’t worry about it. Seek his kingdom and his righteousness. All these things will be provided to you as well because God knows you need them. So, give thanks to the Lord. His love is good. He is good.
And his love endures forever. That means it endures for you. So, pick something in your everyday life that you see that you can have as a thankfulness reminder that when you see it, you remember, okay, I need to thank God for whatever good thing happened today.
For example, every time you see a car driving with one headlight out, boom, that’s your reminder. That’s a great reminder. You need to pick something that has the potential to happen on a daily basis, but that doesn’t happen all the time.
Because if you do like, well, every time I see a clock with the number three in it, I’ll give thanks to God. Okay. Well, that’s going to happen so many times throughout the day, unless you don’t really look at clocks, it’ll happen so many times that after a while, you’re just it’s just not going to happen.
Or I’m going to wear a bracelet and every time I look at it, well, or I’m going to put a notification on my phone, and every time it comes up, I’ll remember to give thanks to God. Pretty soon, it’ll be dismissed.
Pretty soon, you’re going to get used to it. But if you choose something that doesn’t happen every day, but that has an everyday potential, like a car with one headlight out, it’s pretty good that when you see that, you’re going to be like, “Oh, look at that. There’s one. Okay, thank you, God, for safe transportation.”
Or, “Thank you that I have a car to drive.” Or, “Thank you that both my headlights work cause it’s dark.” Or whatever you thank God for something. Choose something that will serve as a great remembrance on the occasional times it occurs.
Then, when you see it, be thankful to God for one thing. Now, if you want, you can start listing off a hundred things or everything and praying to God in that time. But it helps if you just, when you see it, thank God for one thing and just always continue doing that.
Let’s go to Psalms 104. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with prayer.” With praise, sorry. “Give thanks to him and praise his name.” We’re going to do that again.
Psalms 104. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.” Give thanks to God. If you encounter it again the same day, thank God for another thing, something else. And continue doing that all throughout your day.
Let’s go to 2 Chronicles. No, 1 Chronicles 16:34. 1 Chronicles 16:34. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” Give thanks to God. Pick something.
I really encourage you and–and if you have something already, or if you choose something, please leave it in the comments on the YouTube channel. Personally, I do the headlight. Anytime I’m driving, and I see a car with a headlight out, boom, that’s my signal.
Thank God for something. I’ve been doing that for probably, man, probably 20 years. You say, “They’re not that old.” I’ve been doing it ever since I could drive. So, when I turned 16, I was like, “Man, there are a lot of these cars.”
And there used to be a game called Padiddle, which is like old. And I’m like, “This is kind of silly. It’s a made-up word. What does it really mean?” You just say, “Oh, there’s a pedal.” Okay, fine. Uh, let’s turn it into something nice.
I said, “Every time I see one, I’m going to thank God for something.” Boom. It became my thankfulness reminder. And it has been since then. That’d be mine. If you have one or if you’ve chosen one, please comment below.
And the reason I want you to comment below is because it solidifies it. You now not only have it in your head where you can make forget it or have an excuse. Comment below. You’re making it real. Choose something to be your thankfulness reminder.
And if you want to discuss any of this, head over to our Discord server and engage in the sermon discussions there. But choosing a thankfulness reminder is a great way for you to continually be thankful and keep your mind on God all throughout your day.
Let’s pray. Father, thank you so much for everything that you continually do for us. Thank you for everything you will do for us. And we know, Father, that you have already done everything, that your promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus.
Thank you so much that we realize them on this timeline here on earth. Thank you that you have made us not of this world, but that we live in this world and have the opportunity to bring you glory each and every day.
Thank you for this time of year, where we are encouraged and reminded to be thankful. I ask that you would inspire each and every person to be thankful in all circumstances on all occasions, each and every day in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thanks for being with us this week. Thanks for taking the time. As you encou– I encourage you, choose something as a thankfulness reminder and also encourage others to do the same, especially now, as they are already primed to give thanks during this time of year.
Have a great week, and God bless.
