Ever wonder why people in the Bible lived to be so old? Methuselah, the oldest man recorded in the Bible, was 969 years old! People back then lived a lot longer than they do today. There are many theories about why this was.

One is that the Earth’s atmosphere was much thicker back then, and as a result, the earth contained more oxygen. This would have made it easier for people to breathe and stay healthy for a longer period of time. Another theory is that people in the Bible ate a lot of raw, unprocessed food. This would have also helped them to stay healthy and live longer lives.

Both of these theories sound reasonable, and there is no doubt that together they helped play a part in the longer lives people lived in the Bible times. However, as we examine the events in the Bible, you’ll notice that there is a different reason people lived to be so old.

After all, if it were simply a matter of eating different foods, then why can’t we live to be 900 years old today? The reason is that our world went through a catastrophic environmental change. This change ended long life for humans and animals like dinosaurs. After all, you don’t see huge lizards walking around today as you would have 5,000 to 6,000 years ago. (Not a typo: our earth is young).

Hello and welcome to Social Media Ministries, my name is Spencer Coffman. Thank you so much for spending time with us today where we are continuing a seven-part sermon series. This is number two and if you missed the last one don’t worry, they are not building, they are individual, they are autonomous.

But you can check them out, we will have a playlist for you with all of them in it and that will be in a card if you are watching on YouTube or you can go to YouTube and check it out on our channel.

Today we are talking about water in the atmosphere. Before we dive into that, we have to take a minute because for those of you who are viewing this for the first time on this channel, I hope that you can hit the subscribe button below and for those of you returning please help us out, we are making a push this year to get more viewers.

So share this video or this podcast or wherever you are getting this media, share it on your social media because we are Social Media Ministries and our mission is to spread the Bible to as many people as possible and how we do that is through the use of social media.

Now we cannot go out there and create a bunch of fake social media accounts and share this all over and hope that people see it. The only way that is going to happen is if real people like you share this content on your social media accounts so that your friends, your family, your relatives, etc can start seeing it and then come and get more.

If that is something you can do we would greatly appreciate that, thank you so much for your willingness to support us and help us in that capacity. Now as I said, part two of this seven-part sermon series is really about the time of Noah and the events that took place around his timeframe.

Now, we have spoken about how the earth was young in the last message and we do have a young earth. From the time that man and animal and vegetation life on earth began until today, we are right under 6,000 years old. Don’t believe me? Check it out in the other video where we kind of went through it all.

You can view the genealogy in the Bible, check out timelines and you will see that we are definitely under 6,000 years at least in 2022 at the time of the recording. Four more years from now we will be at 6,000 years, so we are 5,996.
Now, “Water is in the atmosphere.” What in the world is that all about? Well, it is literally what it is. Water was in our atmosphere. Where in the atmosphere I don’t know. Could you look up and see water in the sky? I don’t know. I wasn’t alive then.

The Bible doesn’t tell us that much about it, that oh man we could look up and there was a blanket of water that we saw. Maybe it was too high, maybe it was in the atmosphere, stratosphere, they have all those layers.

Maybe it was way up here closest to the sun so that it blocked out the sun’s harmful rays or maybe it was closer to us so that I don’t know we couldn’t get the rays. I have no idea where it was but it was up there.

Now what is the point of that? Well, do you ever wonder why in the Bible people lived to be so old? Let’s take a look at that for a second. Methuselah the oldest man in the Bible, was Noah’s grandfather, he lived to be 969 years old. Don’t believe me? Let’s check out Genesis 5:27, which says, “Altogether Methuselah lived 969 years and then he died.”

Nine hundred and sixty-nine years and then he died, that is how old Methuselah was. He is the oldest man recorded in the Bible, almost 1000 years old. The oldest one recorded in the Bible, someone could have been older but we don’t know. Chances are no because they probably would have recorded it. So 969 years.

Noah the man who built the ark, was 500 years old when he had his first child. Let’s check that out. Genesis 5:32 says, “After Noah’s 500 years he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth” Now maybe that wasn’t his first but 500 years and he had a kid or had three kids, that is pretty significant.

Now Shem, Ham, and Japheth are the people who went on the ark with him. How old was he when he built the ark? We are gonna come to that later on. The point is people in the Bible lived to be very old. Why is this?

It is because before the flood God had water in the atmosphere. “And God said let there be a vault between the waters, to separate water from water. So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it and it was so.” Genesis 1:6-7.

What do we have here, a vault between the waters? Okay so we have the earth was created, if you know the creation story the earth was here, but God separated land, and water, and did all this, plants, animals, vegetation, sea creatures, bird creatures, land creatures, everything like that. Then let there be a vault between the waters. So the water was already up here.

Now then there is water on the earth, a vault between us, our space, our air, so God made a vault that separated the water under the water or the water under the vault from the water above the vault. There was water up above the vault. The atmosphere.

Chances are according to this wording, the verbiage here, the water was probably around the outside so if you went up into space and looked down instead of seeing water and continents it was probably all water because you looked down and saw all water. Hypothesis, can’t be proven until we get to heaven and ask God.

God had water on the earth, water up in the sky, and a space that separated them. The space was a vault. What type of vault? It was an oxygen vault. Why? Well, what do we breathe? We breathe oxygen. Today our air quality is so low that the amount of oxygen we are getting is very minimal.

But they have oxygen tanks that you can breathe when you go up to the mountains or if you are an athlete and you are a football player, you run a kickoff down into the end zone and score a touchdown then you need oxygen.

They give you oxygen right from the tank to kind of get your body back and going again, to put that oxygen back into your muscles and everything because our body performs better with oxygen.

A vault filled with oxygen, water up above, and then the earth and water below that. Oxygen stayed there, it didn’t leave, it didn’t go out, it didn’t. Nothing came in so the people of the time lived in a hyper-oxygen chamber, high-oxygen chamber, or vault.

The water in the sky served to block out the sun’s harmful rays and keep all the oxygen in the earth’s atmosphere so we lived longer, we were healthier. We are going to come to why we live less when we get to the series. If you watched last week we gave you an outline of them all, but in the future, we are going to talk about how we were limited to 120 years.

Now why were we limited to 120 and why doesn’t anyone live that long anymore? Well, we will have another message on really what happened to this water in the atmosphere, that it is gone now, it is not there.

The sun’s harmful rays are not being blocked out as much anymore. Why? It is not because of depleting this or that or global warming or man or anything, it is because there is no water up there. We have to put on sunscreen to protect ourselves from UV rays because the water is not in the atmosphere anymore.

That is why we lived so old. It is also why dinosaurs became so large, reptiles never stopped growing so if they continued to grow for 500 years they would no doubt be huge dinosaurs. What does that mean? Terrible lizard, big lizard.

They are pretty large if they grow for 500 years, breathing concentrated oxygen all the time is sure to increase your lifespan. There is no doubt in my mind that would happen once this water was released.

Again we are going to talk more about it later, our lifespans decreased. Let’s look a little bit more about whether that was true. We know from before Noah before the flood, was to say before the flood people were old.

We have Methuselah 969 years old, we have Noah who was around 500 years old when he had his first kid, we are going to talk more about these people and ages later on when we get to how we are limited to 120. But let’s give you a preview right now.

Let’s go to someone after the flood, Abraham, he was after the flood. We are gonna go there. If Noah was about 500 when he had his kids, let’s check out Abraham. This is in Genesis 16:16 says, “Abraham was 86 years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.” 86, not 806, 86 years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.

Keep going. Let’s go to Genesis 21:5, which says, “Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born to him.” So we have Abraham being 86 when Ishmael was born and then we have him being 100 when Isaac was born. Let’s continue. Abraham again is after the flood, so let’s go to chapters 25:7-8, and read there, “All together Abraham lived 175 years. Then Abraham breathed his last and died.”

Now 86 when he had his first kid, 100 when he had his next kid, 175 when he died. Let’s go back to Methuselah 969 and Noah 500 when he had his kids, that is a big difference. Why so young? Well, our lifespans started decreasing when this water left the atmosphere.

Let’s go to the part of the creation story where God separated the water above and the water beneath. “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” Genesis 1:6, check that out, talk about it with other people, and learn more about this.

I encourage you to read the entire creation story, both creation stories. We have talked about them before. Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, you can check them out in a card here if you are watching on YouTube, otherwise go to our YouTube channel and take a look at the playlist, find it, and learn about the creation stories.

It was a sermon series we did about how the earth was created. You can learn a little bit more about that and know that we truly did have water in the atmosphere. This hyperoxygen chamber enabled us to live much longer lives.

God said, “I will not contend with man for they live so long.” We are a rebellious people. We don’t like to listen. We are naturally wicked. Why? Because sin entered the earth at the time of temptation when Adam and Eve fell and so ever since then humans have up their domain of this earth. Yes we live here, but we don’t reign, we don’t rule. Satan rules the earth, the enemy and so that is why things are very tough and complicated. We have talked about this before.

As we are going through life we lived for so long we just became so wicked and God said we are done with all this, this water in the atmosphere that truly was there came down. How did it come down?

Well hopefully you figured that out, but we are going to give you a sneak peek, a spoiler alert when we talk about the first rain on the earth. Up until the flood it didn’t rain, the water came from the atmosphere and that was our first rain.

We are gonna talk about that coming up so stay tuned to the rest of these sermons series. We have got five more for you. I hope that they provide a great history lesson for you in the time of Noah and the time of the flood and what was going on then and a little bit more about our earth during that time.

Be sure to stay tuned for more. We are going to talk about all kinds of great stuff, dinosaurs, how we are limited to 120, dinosaurs and humans, the size of the ark, and all kinds of stuff like that. Stay tuned for that. Hit the bell icon below to be alerted when we post new videos.

Let’s pray. Lord, thank you so much for the great insight you gave us in the Bible for this lesson in history that we can take and learn from and extrapolate and learn a lot more about our earth and our world. We thank you that we know how long we have been here. That we can understand this through your Word.

I ask that every person out there Lord engage in a little bit of discussion and get more involved and dig into this and understand and know more if that means commenting below let them do that, and if it is talking with other people that would be great as well.

I ask that you would bless every one of them in the coming week and that they would be able to tune in next week for another message and throughout this great sermon series that we have coming up on the time and what was going on in the time of Noah with our earth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks again for tuning in this week. I hope that you will come back again next week and we have several more sermons for you on this topic. They are a little bit shorter sermons, but this information is still great. They are a kind of tidbits that you could choose to share with other people on your social media networks to help us achieve our mission. God bless.
