You must remain vigilant and be on guard at all times. Surround yourself with Scripture, read your Bible daily, pray continually, and avoid evil at all costs.
Yes, movies are only movies. However, horror movies that are about spiritual beings can be very dangerous. Do not give the enemy a foothold in your life. If there is any question, simply avoid the horror movies. There are plenty of other movies you can watch.

We are in the midst of a great sermon series called “No Demons Allowed”, so if you haven’t been with us, check it out in a playlist up here. You can check out all of the videos in this sermon series.
I highly encourage you to watch them and share them with your friends and family, on your social media accounts and networks, as many as you can, because it’s a very important sermon series. We do not want any demons in our lives.
Today, we are talking about horror movies. What? What do horror movies have to do with demons? Well, last week we talked about how you could unknowingly invite demons into your lives. The week before, we talked about how spirits must be invited, and so guess what?
If spirits must be invited, you can unknowingly invite demons. Horror movies could be a way of unknowingly inviting demons that are out there. It is a great tool for the enemy to use.
Now, of course, you could say that about a lot of things, like pleasures or even social media, because there’s so much negative content on there. That’s one thing we are trying to combat.
So help us by sharing “Ministry Minutes” podcasts, our sermons, on social media, so we can start pushing God on social media way more than all of this negativity out there. Can I get an Amen?
Alright, so today we’re talking about horror movies. So if you watch horror movies, you could be playing with fire. This is a dangerous area. What am I saying? Avoid all horror movies? Maybe. Some of you, yes; others of you, maybe, maybe not.
But the point is, you could be playing with fire. You could be testing the limits of opening the door to demons. Remember in week one, we talked about “Don’t Open The Door.”
A horror movie could be a door you’re opening, and then what is in there? Demonic stuff. All kinds of evil. Why are you watching that? It’s no good, especially if you let your kids watch it, who aren’t as strong as you may be.
Now, if you’re an unbeliever and a child is watching this horror movie, what do you think is going to happen? Nightmares, all kinds of things. And you wonder why your kid has a bedwetting problem or why your kid has trouble, or why they got big bags and stuff around their eyes?
Because they’re terrified. Because something is in their life. Demons are coming in. How? Through the horror movies you’re watching. They’re not strong enough, you gotta protect your kids, protect the children.
Now, there are certain horror movies out there that are completely fine. Well, what is the definition then of a not-good horror movie to be watching? One that could be inviting demons into your life.
Well, any horror movies that you watch that has demonic or spiritual activity in it, you need to avoid, because if there are possessed people, paranormal activities, poltergeists, demons, or insidious beings, then you gotta stay away. That’s definitely crossing the line. You can watch horror movies that are like suspense thrillers, maybe it’s a serial killer, things like that.
Now, arguably, the evil within the movie is probably being fed by some type of demon, even though it’s fictional, you know. What’s a serial killer? They’re evil. There’s probably a demon in them, okay, and so there’s a line.
And if you want to be safe, just avoid them all, avoid it all, but I understand that that might not be very realistic, so for sure avoid any that have to do specifically with demonic activity, with spirits, with evil, with anything insidious with paranormal stuff.
Any of that — ghosts, goblins, things like that — avoid because those are creatures of darkness, those are evil spirits, those are demons that you need to stay away from. Now, am I saying “Hey fine, watch a horror movie on serial killers, and see people getting cut to pieces?”
No, of course not. That’s not good for you either. There is a line, and you need to discern where that line is. If you have questions about it, yes, by all means, comment below, and we’ll see if we can help you. Or someone who is more discerning than you are can help you, but if you have a question, just stay away.
Like if you say, “Hmm, this looks like a good movie. I’m into the scary stuff. Can I watch this one or not?” If you don’t know, don’t watch it. Don’t even take the chance until you find out for sure because if there is anything suspect, avoid it. Horror movies can open the door to unknowingly inviting demons in your life. Stay away. Let’s go to Leviticus. Leviticus 19:31.
Leviticus 19:31 says, “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God.” Okay, so any movie where someone is consulting mediums, or they have that. What is a medium? A medium is like a seer.
Sometimes you see them in TV shows portrayed as like people with no eyes. Maybe sometimes they have eyes in their hands — they’re creepy, alright? Maybe sometimes they don’t even have mouths, like it’s sealed over, and they just like speak through whatever.
Some kind of I don’t even know, radiation or something, or they emit audible things that people can hear. These things, like oracles, omens, spiritists, mediums, psychics, things that consult the dead, and try to bring things into the living.
Even maybe, even palm readers could be crossing the line because what are they doing? They are looking at something. Palm reading might be a little bit different, but it depends on how they’re reading.
If they’re just reading your palm from like a health perspective, “Oh, look at your lifelines, look at this, look at that.” Or if they’re like reading it, trying to consult like dead spirits to try to give you some type of fortune or omen, that’s not good.
It’s all in how it’s used, but anything that’s used for consulting the dead, speaking to the dead, because what is it? What are these people? If they’re dead, they’re not talking to a dead person; they’re talking to a demon who is identifying as a dead person.
There are instances in the Bible, even when King Saul went to a medium, or a spiritist, and tried to talk to the prophet Samuel. And “Oh, why would you wake me up, Saul?” You know, like, was it really Samuel, or was it a demon?
The point is, don’t do it. Stay away. So if there are movies with any of that type of activity, no, definitely no. Don’t do it. Why? Why don’t you do it? Here. It says right here: “You will be defiled by them.” You don’t want to be defiled. Stay with God. Resist all of this evil. Let’s go to Isaiah.
Isaiah 8:19. 8:19 says, “When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God?” Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
Right there to me, that’s like a winning argument. “Okay, we have a problem in today’s life. I want to know what’s going on. Will I do this, will I do that, let me go talk to the dead.”
Wait a minute, why would you consult the dead on behalf of the living? That’s stupid. Their time is over. They’re dead and buried. You don’t go talk to the dead about something in the living.
When that’s happening, who do you think that person is talking to? They’re not talking to the dead. They are talking to the demons who are masquerading as the dead. And of course, they’re going to get an answer. Because why? Because the demons know.
Demons have more knowledge about Scripture and about God than, arguably than, we will. Why? Because their knowledge isn’t limited by human intellect. They know it, but they refuse to believe it. They may believe it and shudder.
Remember, James says, “Even the demons believe and shudder,” but if the demons believe they’re not going to heaven. So wait a minute. We need to do more. We gotta have faith and action, like James says.
You gotta get out there. You gotta avoid things that get into the demons, because these demons are tricky. Of course, they’re going to masquerade as your dead uncle or grandma or ancestor, so for those other religions, even, that are praying to their ancestors, that’s not good.
Who are they praying to? Demons. Yep, I said it. What about religions that are praying to multiple gods? Who are they praying to? If they’re getting answers, demons. What about some African religions that have, like Makhuwa, or different spirits that come and give them things? Demons.
What about The Walking Dead when, like, they have the dead person in the room still, and then after several days they chant and they get up and take, like, however many steps and that’s how? Whatever it means, demon. I’m not kidding, this stuff is real, and they are all around.
Demons are all over this Earth, and they are tricky and masquerading in things that seem harmless. Even other religions like Hindu, Buddhist, or the religions in China. Where they, do, literally, pray to their ancestors for guidance.
Now, even some religions of today pray to dead Saints in Christianity. Within Christianity, we are praying. Not we, but some Christians, Catholics. They pray to all kinds of saints. They have prayers to certain saints. They even pray to Mary.
Okay, who are they praying to if it’s not Yahweh? The one true God, or Jesus, Son of God, also God? Who are they praying to? Demons. Make no mistake, these demons are tricky, and they are setting themselves up to receive worship.
That is what they want. Remember what Satan ultimately wanted. He tried to tempt Jesus three times. And the final one, he said I will give everything to you. Satan owns it all. Satan’s got this Earth. “I will give it all to you, if you bow down and worship me,” and instantly, “Get away from me, Satan. Worship the Lord your God only.”
That was the final straw, but that’s what Satan ultimately wants. He wants your worship. Don’t give it to him. Stay away from anything that has spiritual or demonic activity.
What else? Tarot cards, Ouija boards — what else — the knuckle bones when they’re reading bones. Spells, even things like chants or wizardry, sorcery, stay away from that kind of stuff.
Now, how do you know, like — There’s a big debate over “Harry Potter” when that came out. I remember Christians all around the world were up in arms about whether or not this should be there.
Well, you gotta dive into what the Bible says about all of this. What were those people? What, I’m not going to go on an argument for or against Harry Potter. But what did they do?
Well, they were some kind of a wizard. How did they get their power? Was it from some dark art? Did they learn it? Were they born with it? It does make a difference. Because in the stuff you want to avoid, is something anyone can achieve by going to the dark side, so to speak.
Now, does that mean stay away from Star Wars? Again, have discernment. That’s what you really need here, so pray for discernment. It’s something that you can go tap into.
This is mediums, sorcery, omens, spiritists, all of that kind of stuff is not good. Now, if some people are, in some fictional movie, are born with some ability to have magic. Okay, that’s not demonic. They’re born with that. That’s obviously fiction.
Now, if it starts getting twisted into evil, then yes, not good. You have to have discernment, so pray for that. Be careful with horror movies. Any of those with that stuff. Paranormal activity. Stay away. It’s not good. You could be unknowingly inviting demons into your life.
Think about this: the average church service is about one hour long, or if you’re watching online, for example. If you watch Social Media Ministries. Let’s say you watch every Wednesday at 6:30. We average about 20 minutes, 25. So if you watch one time a week, that’s 25 minutes.
Alright, the average movie — how long? Well, nowadays, they’re about 2 hours. Maybe we’ll say 180 minutes, or not 180 minutes, 2 hours is 120 minutes. Maybe the average one is 100 minutes.
Alright, so if our average sermon is 25 minutes and the average movie is 100 minutes. That’s four times longer. Four times longer — that you are exposed to something that could be evil, to unknowingly allowing demons into your life, to opening the door, to giving the devil a foothold.
Don’t do it. Am I saying you should be watching four times more sermons, four times more biblical things than regular? Oh yeah, definitely. And you’re like, “What are you talking about? I can’t watch three hours of sermons every week.”
Why not? Listen to them when you’re in the car. Listen to them when you’re working out, listen to, watch them. Once a week, go to church.
We have a whole sermon series on the importance of going to church and being the church, and fellowshipping with others. So watch that. You gotta be doing this. Expose yourself to God way more than you expose yourself to this world and to the evil. Why?
Because whose child are you? A child of the devil or a child of God? If you align yourself with evil things, you’re becoming more of a child of the devil. We have a sermon on that, “Child Of The Devil Or A Child Of God?”
So watch that, learn more about it. How can Christ help you if you don’t spend time with Him? How do you get to know someone? Let’s say you’re dating, alright. When you first start dating, do you just jump in and marry them? No. Most of the time, you don’t.
You get to know them first. How do you get to know them? You don’t just instantly know them; you spend time with them. You talk to them. You learn about them. You understand each other. You have a companionship.
Now this goes the same with your spouse, opposite sex or with like a best friend who you know, maybe growing up you have a best friend that’s before, for guys, girls, or we have, they have cuties, you just stay away.
So your best friend’s a boy, and you have a friendship. And how do you get to know your friends? You spend time with them. You learn from them. You learn about them. You take an interest in their lives. How do you get to know God?
You spend time with him. If you’re spending more time with this world and more time with demons and more time with the devil, then guess what? You are going to be a friend of the devil. You will be a child of the devil. You need to be spending more time with God. How do you do that? Pray. Read your Bible. Watch more sermons. Understand Scripture.
Talk about it with other people. Go to church. Sing praises and worship songs. Listen to worship music. Talk about the Bible with other people. Share it with other people. Read and memorize Scripture.
Pray to God. Operate in your spiritual gifts. Ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit daily, if not multiple times a day. Do all of that, and you will become closer to God and further from the devil. Because Christ can’t help you if you spend time with the devil, and not with Him.
You gotta spend more time with Him. Regular church attendance is now considered, and has been for years, to be twice a month. So let’s say, let’s say you go there twice a month.
Alright, so that’s two hours a month, and if you watch, let’s just, let’s give you some, some extra — let’s say you watch one sermon online a month, and it’s a half hour would be generous. So that’s another two hours. So that’s four hours every month you’re spending watching some type of content about God.
That’s two movies. How often are you reading your Bible? How much time do you spend in prayer? Think. You read your Bible for a half hour and pray every day, fine. You know that’d be really great, 15 more hours a month.
How many movies do you watch? You watch a movie or a TV show every night? Well, if you’re watching some kind of vampire, sorcerer, medium, or omen. Or some medieval time or some Viking thing, where they’re pagans and they got rituals of paganism and human sacrifice going on, then guess what?
That’s all bad. You’re spending that much time away from God, seeking, watching, something that is demonic and against what you need to be doing. Avoid it. Shut it out. Get rid of it. This stuff is bad. Demons will sneak in. You will give them a foothold in your life. Stay away. Demonic movies are dangerous. Let’s go to Ephesians.
Ephesians 4:27. Ephesians 4:27 says, “Do not give the devil a foothold.” These movies, or things like that, will, if you have a psychic, or if you’re talking about it, or if you have Ouija boards or tarot cards, or if you’re even thinking about stuff like that, that’s giving the devil a foothold. Get rid of it.
And if there is a store that you shop at that sells that stuff, stop shopping there. I’m serious. Stand up for what you believe in. We believe in Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and Savior. We are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are children of the light. We will not support anything or anyone who engages in evil behavior, because if you start doing that, you are learning about things that you are not able to control.
The only person who can control those things is Jesus. He is the one who has the power. That same power is within you, yes, so can you fight and cast out demons? Yes. But it’s not you, it’s Jesus. He is the only one who can control that. Let’s go to Jude 1, Verse 9.
Jude 1:9 “But even the Archangel Michael,” — Michael — this is a mighty archangel, okay, but even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him.
But he said, “The Lord rebuke you.” Okay, if even the archangel Michael did not go against the devil, didn’t dare to go against the devil, but instead said, “The Lord.” Use the power of Jesus’ name.
We have a sermon, “The Power Of A Name.” He used Jesus to go against the devil. He didn’t even do it. If even the archangel Michael can’t do it, guess what? Can you? No. It’s Jesus. So when you fight, let Jesus fight for you.
We have an entire playlist on that. You can check it out in a card, if you haven’t already. Please watch that, “Let God Fight.” It’s very, very important because you can’t control this, and if you can’t control it, then it will control you.
Avoid these things. There are plenty of other movies out there for you to watch — you don’t need to be watching these horror movies. Let’s go to Deuteronomy 18: Verses 10-12.
18 10-12: “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium, or a spiritist, or who consults the dead. Let no one be found among you.” Shun them, get rid of them, bring them to God. Pray for them that Jesus will take over.
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, I pray that the people watching and listening would understand how truly important this is. That they would grab on to this sermon series, that they would understand that they can’t fight this battle, that they need you to fight it.
That they would use their most powerful weapon, which is prayer, and that you would go in there with your angels and fight on their behalf. That they would seek you in the Bible. That they would pray in the Spirit.
That they would continually spend time with you, and that they would avoid all of these evil things of this world. Lord, give them discernment so that they know what’s right and what’s wrong.
And what things they can be exposed to, and what things they can’t, and God help them protect their children. That if there are movies or TV shows that they’re watching and that they want to watch as a family, give them the strength to say, “No, we’re turning this off.”
To say this is wrong, to get rid of this book, to get this out of my house. Why? Because we stand for the Lord. And if other people shun them for that, God give them even more strength.
And if their kids fight back, have them pray for them, and give those children that discernment as well, and God keep us all filled with your Spirit going forward, bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to be even more populated here on Earth.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you so much for being with us again this week. We’ve got one more sermon, so stay with us one more week of this great series called “No Demons Allowed.”
Have a great week, and God bless.
