Following God is hard. Especially in a world that often values comfort, conformity, and convenience. The call to walk in the footsteps of Jesus can feel overwhelming. But God’s Word is clear—those who follow Him are called to be distinct, set apart, and radically different from the world around them.

In this sermon, we’ll explore what it means to embrace the challenge of being “different” in the world, not by rejecting the world in judgment, but by embodying the life of Christ in love, humility, and sacrificial service. We’ll look at how the example of Jesus teaches us not just how to act differently, but how to be different—from the inside out.

Through Scripture and practical application, we’ll unpack what it truly means to be Christ-like, understanding that the journey to follow God requires us to resist the pull of cultural norms and live with intentionality, integrity, and purpose.

As we reflect on the ways Jesus walked through life, we’ll be reminded that following God is hard, but it brings transformation and joy.

This sermon will challenge and encourage you to evaluate how you can live out your faith with greater boldness and authenticity, becoming a living testimony of the power of Christ in a world that desperately needs to see His light.

The path of following God is hard, but it is the only one that leads to true peace and fulfillment in Him. Join us as we explore the radical, countercultural call to follow God and be truly Christ-like.

A lot of negativity on social media, a lot of bad things happening out there.

Share some hope, share some positivity, share the Bible on social media by sharing something from Social Media Ministries. All right, let’s dive into today. We’ve got a sermon that could go hand in hand with sharing.

Maybe, you say, “I don’t want to share because I’m worried about what people might think of me. I would share your Ministry Minute because I really liked that verse. It’s one of my favorites that you did the other day. But if I share it, I’m worried that other people might comment on it, and I don’t want to get into any arguments on social media. I don’t want the haters out there.”

Hey, following God is hard. And maybe using your social media accounts to bring more people to Christ is exactly what God wants you to be doing with your social media accounts. He gave them to you for a reason. Are you using it as a tool to build His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven?

Or, are you using it as a means of time wasting like Satan wants and scrolling through feeds, TikTok after TikTok, or reel after reel, or video after video, and all of a sudden two hours is gone, and you still haven’t done all the things you’re supposed to do?

Social media is one of Satan’s greatest tools in this world. Why? Because it takes a lot of people’s time away from what they should be doing. There’s also a lot of negative content on People are depressed, anxious, suicidal, even.

Cyberbullying is crazy. Let’s take social media back. Use your social media account for good. Share Bible verses, share sermons, share devotionals. Promote God on social media. You can do it. Following God is hard. And that’s what we’re talking about today.

You might not be very popular if you do that. People might hate on you. People might storm your comments. But guess what? You can tag other people and rally the troops. The army of God will be with you. You can reach out to others and say, “Hey, can you weigh in on this discussion? Do you have any insight or advice?”

You’re not in it alone. Following God is hard, but it can be done. “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it,” Matthew 7:14. What does that mean? Small is the road, only a few find it. More people are going to Hell than are going to Heaven.

You say, “What? Only a few find it?” There are many people in this world that are going to be caught up in this world. Satan has a hold of them.

How many can you help break free from the bondage of sin, and the bondage of demons, or slavery, demonic possession or oppression, the mental anxiety and anguish, the depression, the disorders, psychological and physical that this world has on them, that Satan has on them, over them?

You can help set them free. It’s very difficult to follow God. But guess what? You must follow God no matter what. We have a sermon on that, “Follow No Matter What.” Check it out. Card up here, or go to our website, type in “Follow.”

Especially in this society in which you live. Remember, Lot was frustrated with the society in which he lived, Sodom and Gomorrah. It eventually got destroyed, so that’s kind of crazy. But it wasn’t around, because why? It was so wicked. Let’s go to 2 Peter 2 verses 7 and 8.

2 Peter 2:7-8. So if you have your Bible, turn with me. Otherwise, it will be in the description below. You can come back later, and I hope you do. Chapter 2:7-8. “‘And if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless,’—‘(for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard).’”

So, if you’re frustrated with the society in which you live, you’re not alone. If you’re frustrated with the lawlessness of your leaders or your society or the world, you’re not alone.

Every day, you’re constantly bombarded with TV shows and advertisements that display wrongdoing as fun and acceptable. What is this? This is folly in Proverbs!

Nearly every TV series nowadays implies that men and women can have fun and carefree sex all the time. No problem, we’re just going to hook up, we’re going to chill, and it’s acceptable! But it’s not.

Sex before marriage is seen as perfectly fine, and many TV commercials display scantily clad women and solicit lust. A lot of commercials nowadays have women that are even naked. There’s just—like some kind of curtain blowing around in front of them.

Men, naked, but they’re in the water, so it’s okay. Things like that, perfumes and colognes have this, and they try to solicit that lust and desire, and it’s bombarding you day after day!

It’s bombarding your kids day after day, and people are being raised with this, and they’re learning that this is okay, but you know what the Bible says—it’s not.

This is folly! Violence is in every show and cartoon, and you, the people of America, the people of this world, are being sensitized and conditioned to believe something false. To believe that this is okay.

What is folly? Let’s go to Proverbs and check it out. Got a lot of verses here, so that description is going to be very helpful for you to come back to and reference all of these. So, we’re gonna go through them. Proverbs Chapter 9:13, Chapter 9.

Proverbs 9:13, “Folly is an unruly woman. She is simple and knows nothing.” We’re going to go to 14—“She sits at the door of her house on a seat at the highest point of the city.” 15—“Calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way.” 16, “Let all who are simple come to my house. To those who have no sense, she says”, 17—“Stolen water is sweet, food eaten in secret is delicious.” 18—“But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the deep realm of the dead.”

Proverbs 7:10-12. 7:10-12, here we go, “Then out came a woman to meet him, dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent. She is unruly and defiant. Her feet never stay at home. Now in the street, now in the squares, at every corner she lurks.” Folly. Proverbs 30:20.

Proverbs 30:20 says, “This is the way of an adulterous woman. She eats and wipes her mouth and says, “I’ve done nothing wrong.” Proverbs 5:3 and 6. Proverbs 5:3-6. “For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey. Her speech is smoother than oil, but in the end, she is as bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life and her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.”

This is Folly. What is every commercial and TV show displaying? Even cartoons nowadays are having people that aren’t married and they’re hanging out, or they have sexual innuendos and behaviors going on.

It’s folly. It’s unruly. It’s adulterous. It’s lewd. It’s provocative. Folly—according to Proverbs. It’s not okay. People listen to society, and prior pressure works. And if society says it’s okay, people begin to do it.

Just look around at the world and go to colleges, and you will see it’s happening everywhere. Look at the abortion rate—it’s high. Look at the adoption rate of babies. People want babies, and other people don’t want babies.

Now, fire stations around the United States are even advertising as baby drop-off locations because there are so many unwanted children around, because people just want to have sex and they don’t want to have the child. Because that’s what results.

It’s not okay. I’m saying these things, and you might be like, “What’s he talking about? What’s his point? So what? I don’t see the big deal.” That’s the problem! You need to be seeing this as a big deal. Let’s go to Isaiah 5:20.

Isaiah 5:20, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” If you don’t see the problem, woe to you. “Who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter? Woe to you if that is you.” Let’s go to Proverbs Chapter 1:24-26.

Proverbs 1:24-26, “But since you refuse to listen when I call, and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand, since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke, I, in turn, will laugh when disaster strikes you. I will mock when calamity overtakes you. When calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps you over like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm.”

If you refuse to listen, that’s wisdom. Wisdom is talking to you. Wisdom is saying: if you refuse to listen and accept instruction, then when disaster happens. Wisdom will be nowhere to be found. She will mock you. She will laugh at you because you refused her, and you will suffer dearly.

When society says it’s okay, and people are doing it. You must not. You need to be different. Supporting sin is a sin, so you have to be different. We had a sermon on that. “Supporting Sin Is A Sin.” Go to our website, go to the search bar, type in S-I-N, Sin.

We have a lot of sermons on that topic. You need to be different—don’t compromise, don’t get used to it, don’t say “Whatever,” like Lot did, and he just lived his life in Sodom and Gomorrah, distressed and troubled, wishing it would be better. No. You need to be different. Your kids need to be different. You need to be raising up godly children.

You need to be in the Word of God because that is the only truth. That is the only way you will know if something is right or wrong. God will give you discernment, and you will understand.

Be baptized in the Holy Spirit right now. In Jesus’ name, Amen, because why? The Holy Spirit will be within you. Wisdom is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

You can receive it. The fear of God is another one—you can receive that as well, and you can live in this world and change it for God, building His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Study the Bible. Recognize and realize the impurity and the defilement of society. Commit yourself to resisting engagement in this sin and fight to be a good example for others. What is wisdom? Let’s take a look at it. Proverbs has several verses about wisdom.

We know what folly is. Unruly woman. In the streets and corners, she’s lurking, eating, and wiping her mouth, saying, “I have done nothing wrong,” but what’s happening? She’s in the depths of the grave. Her guests, that’s where the dead are. So, that’s folly. The unruly and loud, and provocative woman. Defiant.

What is wisdom? Let’s check it out. Proverbs Chapter 8:23-31. A lot of verses. I’m going to read them all. You can reread them, because I’m going to go fast. We’ve got a lot of them.

Proverbs 8:23-31, “I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning when the world came to be. When there were no watery depths, I was given birth. When there were no springs overflowing with water. Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth.

Before He made the world or its fields, or any of the dust of the Earth, I was there when He set the Heavens in place, when He marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when He established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep.

When He gave the sea its boundary, so the waters would not overstep his command, and when He marked out the foundations of the Earth. Then I was constantly at His side, I was filled with delight, day after day, rejoicing always in His presence, rejoicing in His whole world, and delighting in mankind.

Now then, my children, listen to me. Blessed are those who keep my ways. I like to keep going. Listen to instruction and be wise. Do not disregard it. Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me, find life, and receive favor from the Lord. But those who fail to find me harm themselves. All who hate me love death.”

Folly was what? Death, wisdom, life. If you hate wisdom, you love death. Interesting! But think about that. Wisdom was there rejoicing in the presence of God. We want to know wisdom. We want to have wisdom. Let’s go to Proverbs 1:33.

Proverbs 1:33. “But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease without fear of harm.” No fear of harm, come on! Proverbs 2:12.

Proverbs 2:12. “Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse.” Wisdom will save you.

Proverbs 2:16. “Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words.” Wisdom will save you. Proverbs 3:13-18.

Proverbs 3:13-18. “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her, long life is in her right hand and in her left hand are riches and honor—her ways are pleasant ways, and all her parts are peace, she is the Tree of Life to those who take hold of her, those who hold her fast will be blessed.” Incredible!

Proverbs 4:8-9. “Cherish her and she will exalt you, embrace her and she will honor you with. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.” Proverbs 8:17-19.

Proverbs 8:17-19. “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than fine gold. What I yield surpasses choice silver.”

If that doesn’t convince you to go after wisdom, nothing will. Enduring wealth, long life, prosperity, protection from your enemies, safety, ease, no fear of harm, abundant fruit, on and on and on. You want wisdom! Wisdom is avoiding folly. Folly is what’s going on in society.

Now, does that mean you gotta shut in and avoid society? No, it means you need to be different. It means you need to be filled with wisdom, and you need to share it with other people. You need to help other people become full of wisdom.

You need to take little clips of certain sermons and videos and share them on your social media so other people see what it’s like.

You gotta talk to them. You gotta tell them. You need to say, “Hey, this is wrong, this is right, and here’s why. The Bible says so.” And if they say, “Well, where’s your evidence other than the Bible?” You say it’s on faith.

“I’m a Christian. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and Yahweh is the one true God, and I worship Him. Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.”

And they say you’re wrong. That’s their problem. You can’t change everybody. Remember, small is the gate and narrow is the road to life. Only a few find it. You’re not going to save them all, but you’re going to keep going, and you’re going to save the few.

And if all of you work hard and have wisdom and save the few. We can save many. Now we can’t, of course, save them. It’s God that saves them, but you can do your par,t and then God will save them.

God will bring more into the Kingdom, but He needs your voice. He needs you. You are a tool here on Earth. Let Him use you.

Share your knowledge with others in an effort to change the society in which you live. Stop letting society take God out of your country. Fight to make America one nation under God once again.

Let’s pray.

Lord, thank you so much for this message. We know following God is hard, but it is something that we can do with your help. We can’t do it on our own. We don’t stand a chance. This world is so full of evil, and Satan and his demons are more powerful than we are.

But if we have You, then we become more powerful than they, because You are in us. So Lord, I pray that the people watching and listening that they would understand that. That—they would know that greater is in You. Greater is in each and every one of them than he is in the world.

Because, if they are filled with the Holy Spirit, they will be greater than he that is in the world, and that he is Satan and his demons. But alone, they can’t do it. They will lose.

They have to let You, God. They have to allow You to fight for them. And I pray that they would do that; that they would rely on You, that they would trust You, that they would let You fight their battles.

That they would step and walk in faith, working to lead others to You and that You would never let them down, that You would take over in those difficult circumstances, that You would give them the words to say, that You would teach them what to speak, that You would help them in those situations where they may feel a little bit overwhelmed and attacked.

That they would rely on You and that, that spiritual battle would go on, and You would be victorious each and every time and allow them to see that so that they understand and realize that no matter what they’re doing, that as long as they’re doing it for You, they are victorious and that they will have the motivation and the desire to keep going.

Give them the strength, and energy, and stamina. Fill them with the Holy Spirit so that they are running on supernatural power, not on Earthly power.

Not on their human strength, but on the strength of God filling them each and every day to get up and go out and baptize others in the name of the Holy Spirit.

And in the Holy Spirit, to fill them with the Holy Spirit and to make disciples of all nations and bring more people into the body of Christ.

Because we know that few will find the path to life, but God inspires each and every one of them to do their part, to live their calling of the Great Commission, and help lead more people to you.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thanks for watching. I hope you have a great week, and God bless!
