Am I Possessed, Oppressed, Suppressed, Or Something Else?
People are not possessed, oppressed, or suppressed. In Greek, they were “daimonizomai”, which means demonized or under the influence of a demon or demons.
Exactly like alcohol, you can be a little under the influence or completely under the influence. The same is true with demonic influence in a person’s life.
How Do I Know If I Have Demons?
Can Demons Control You?
Can Believers Have Demons?
Of course they can. Therefore, they can definitely be under the influence of a demon or demons in one or more areas of their life.
We have a saying, “Believers can have demons, but demons cannot have believers.”
Did Jesus Cast Demons Out Of Believers?
Instances of Jesus casting a demon out of a believer.
Luke 13:10-13
On a Sabbath, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
(It’s very unlikely a nonbeliever would be going to church for 18 years. Also unlikely that the first thing an unbeliever would do after being set free is to praise God).
Luke 4:33-35
In the synagogue, there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, “Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
“Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
(Unlikely an unbeliever would have been allowed in a Jewish synagogue in that day and age).
Matthew 8:28-34, Mark 5:1-20, Luke 8:26-39
Two demon-possessed men have 6,126 demons cast out of each of them. One man, after being set free, immediately worshiped Jesus.
(Unlikely that an unbeliever would have known to worship and recognize Jesus as God).
What If I'm Not A Believer?
If you’re not willing, we will not administer deliverance to you. The reason is we love you too much to put you through that.
If we cast out your demons, then you may experience relief for a short time. However, if you don’t allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life and fill you with the Holy Spirit then those demons will return. Jesus explains this in Matthew 12:43-45.
We do not want to cast out your current demons only to have 7 times as many demons return to you that are even more wicked than the current demons.
You must be willing to change your ways and stop allowing demons to influence your life. If you’re not willing to change then we will pray with you and for you. However, we cannot administer deliverance.
Remember – deliverance is for the believer. Salvation is for the nonbeliever.
