Satan is blinded by pride and arrogance and time and time again it contributes to his downfall and destruction. You can learn from his mistakes and make the choice to avoid pride at all costs.

Satan became prideful and thought he could do a better job at being God than God could. Satan was blinded and fought against God. Of course, he lost and was cast out of heaven and down to earth.

Satan was blinded by pride and thought he could rid the earth of God (Jesus) once and for all by executing Jesus. However, he was so blinded that he didn’t realize he was playing right into God’s plan.

Learn from this. Don’t allow pride to blind you. Make no mistake. Pride goes before destruction. If you allow any hint of pride in your life, you are asking for downfall and destruction to follow.

Hello and welcome to Social Media Ministries. My name is Spencer Coffman. Thank you so much for being with us today. I hope you’re following us online. I encourage you to comment on our videos, share them with others, and really start interacting. Help us spread the Word to more people all around the world.

They all need to hear the Gospel of Christ, because guess what? If they don’t believe in Jesus, the sad truth is that they will be separated from God for eternity. It’s their choice whether or not they want to be with God, whether or not they want to accept Jesus, and if they choose to not do that.

God will grant their request and they will be separated from God for eternity. So it’s our job as children of the light, to go reach those who are in darkness and bring them into Christ. Now today we have a unique sermon. We are going to be talking about the Prince of Darkness — Satan.

He was blinded by pride and so today’s message is also about Satan, but it’s really about pride and how you need to eliminate all forms of pride in your life. I’m talking right down to the very very minuscule saying that just every time I hear it or I see someone typing it on some kind of comment or post or something about that, it just rubs me the wrong way.

It’s under my skin. It’s when they say, “I’m so proud of my son who’s done this,” or “I’m so proud of my child who’s done this,” or “My daughter who accomplished this.” Don’t do it, and you say well what do you say? Pride?

We do not want any form of pride in our lives, so if you say you’re proud of someone, you are taking credit. You may argue with me there, that’s fine. But that’s what it is. Eliminate pride instead.

Say something like what you have done makes me really happy, or I’m so happy this person is my child. I’m so delighted in what they have done. Their actions have brought me great joy. Those are the words God tells us to use in the Bible. That they have taken great delight, or it has brought them great joy, that they are so happy.

God never once says, “I’m so proud of my servant Job.” No. Pride blinds us and we need to eliminate it from our lives. God even hates all forms of pride and malice. Satan is blinded by his pride time and time again, so if you take nothing else from this learn from someone who has been blinded by pride time and time again.

Let’s go into this. What has it done? What has pride done for Satan time and time again? It leads to his destruction. Many people quote the famous proverb “Pride goes before a fall.” Wrong. Guess what? “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

That’s Proverbs 16:18. Learn it and memorize it. Pride, destruction, haughty spirit — that means like arrogance or boastfulness goes before a fall, so if you start to be boastful, you’re going to fall. If you get prideful, you will be dead — destroyed. We don’t want pride in your life at all.

Let’s go to another proverb: Proverbs 18:12 says “Before his downfall, a person’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.” What is the opposite of pride? Humility. Humble. So before a downfall, someone is proud. Humility goes before honor. We want to be humble.

Then you’ll be honored just like the stories in the New Testament of taking a lower seat, because then guess what? The host will come to you and say, “Hey, move up here.” Whereas if you take the higher seat you may be humiliated and they may say, “No, this isn’t for you, go sit in the back. I reserved this for someone else.”

Take the lower seat. Be elevated. Be humble. Be elevated. Be prideful, downfall. All right. Satan was thrown out of Heaven because of his pride.

Let’s go to the Old Testament. Isaiah, all right Isaiah Chapter 14, Verse 12. 14:12, “How you have fallen from Heaven, o morning star, o son of the dawn! You have been cast down to Earth, you who once laid low the nations!”

Satan was proud, he thought he could take on God. He thought he was better than God. He started up a mutiny and guess what? God did. God destroyed him. He said “Get out of here, go down to Earth and leave this place.”

Proverbs 29:23 “A man’s pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.” Kind of like that other one. Pride, destruction. Pride, fall. Lowly spirit or humility, honor. A lowly spirit, honor. There’s a theme going here.

Solomon is trying to tell you something: be humble, get honored, be prideful, go down by falling. Satan became proud when he tricked Adam and Eve into giving him dominion of the Earth. Okay, so first of all Satan was proud in Heaven. God sent him to Earth. Then he thinks, “Well, I’m still the best. Humankind rules Earth, so I’m going to take it from them.”

Genesis 36. Satan becomes proud because he steals it away. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the guy, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. They fell.

Satan tricked them. He then took dominion of the Earth from humans and continued to rule over the Earth with great pride. He was so proud he believed he could get rid of Jesus. Jesus came to the Earth. Satan and his demons who were ruling the Earth, they knew, they knew who it was. They knew it was the master.

“Have you come to torment us before the appointed time? No! Go away, be silent!” Jesus would say to them. Satan ruled this Earth with great pride, he said, “This is my world, so guess what? I’m going to get rid of Jesus, make no mistake.”

Satan was behind every single person who wanted Jesus dead. All those Pharisees, the Sadducees, the teachers of the law the people that didn’t like Jesus. Satan was in and controlling every one of them.

Maybe not directly like a demon possession, but he was influencing them subtly with the ways of the world. Exactly like if you are a friend of this world you are an enemy of God. We have a sermon on that: “Friend of the World.”

Do not be a friend of this world, because who is ruling this world? Satan. So if you’re a friend of this world, you become a friend of Satan. Now you’re an enemy of God. Are you a child of the devil or a child of God?

Check out that sermon. Great message on “Whose Child Are You?” God allowed Satan to influence all of the people in this Earth? Why? Because God had a plan all along, a redemptive plan from the beginning of time all the way until Jesus’ death.

All the way until the second coming, all the way until the millennium reign and the destruction of the Earth and the eternal reign in Heaven. God has a plan all the way through, and we’ve been put in the timeline of this plan. God Himself is outside of it so He’s already experienced it all.

He already knows what’s going to happen. Why? Because He has experienced it. It’s His plan. He’s outside of that time, is a predestination then, that we’re going through predetermined no free will? Wrong. No, it’s not it. We are living it as events happen to God. The events He’s outside of, it it has already happened. That’s what’s going on.

So God is allowing Satan to influence all of these people, from the rulers to the guards to the mobs of people. Satan influenced them with God’s allowance, but if Satan weren’t blinded by that pride, if he understood what would have happened or what would happen by killing Jesus, he never would have done it.

You say, “Wait a minute, what?” If Satan knew, think about this — Satan wants everyone to be with him, he wants people to worship him, that is Satan’s only goal. Satan hates God so much, he says, “Not only am I going to steal Earth from the people you gave it to, but I am going to get them to worship me.”

You say, “Wait a minute, people worship other gods. They’re worshiping fish, they’re worshiping sea creatures, they’re worshiping Zeus or Poseidon or Neptune. Or Athena, the whatever goddesses of fertility — they’re worshiping those.”

Who do you think those are? Satan is behind every one of them. God and Satan are at war. Of course, Satan thinks they’re at war. God knows, “Satan, you’ve already been defeated.” The point is, Satan is trying to get as many people as he can to worship him. Not to worship God. Satan wants worship.

That’s all he wants. He wants to be in power. That’s all he ever wanted. He said, “I am better than you, God. I’m taking over Heaven,” and God said, “No, get out. Go down to Earth.” Satan said, “Fine. I will steal your most precious and prized possession, I will steal humans.” Not possession, but creation.

So Satan is slowly, slowly stealing humans away, through abortion, through false worship and they are all turning to the world. They are becoming children of the darkness, of Satan. They are following him. They’re becoming friends of the world. They’re turning from God.

So what’s the point? You need to be different, you need to turn back to the light. You need to bring others to the light. And if Satan knew what would happen by killing Jesus, he never would’ve done it.

Because by killing Jesus, Jesus became the sacrifice for the sins of the world. Now the world all of a sudden has a way to get back to God. Satan would never have done that. He would’ve said “No, we’re keeping Jesus alive and he’s going to die a ripe old age and no one’s going to follow him. No one’s going to remember him, I’m going to make sure of that.”

Why? Because if that happened, then they would have no way to get back to God. Because they’d still be trying to sacrifice all of these animals to cover for their sins, and Satan would of course make sure that they’d forget one or two.

And then when they go to judgment, God would look at them and say, “You didn’t sacrifice you didn’t pay for your sins. The wages of sin is death. Boom, you go on here, separated from me.” And Satan would cheer, because that means they are going to him.

But God said, “No, I have a plan, and Satan is blinded by his pride so he’s going to try to be a great part of my plan, thinking he’s thwarting my plan. How great is that?” God let Satan do whatever he wanted, knowing he was playing right into His hand.

And Satan was so blinded by that pride, he played right into God’s plan. And God allowed Jesus to die for our sins, so that guess what? We could all be reunited with him. Part of this big redemptive plan that he had.

Let’s go to Proverbs, 11:2. Proverbs 11:2, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” What is that again, another one? Pride, disgrace. Pride, destruction. Pride, fall. With humility, comes wisdom and honor.

Pride blinded Satan. If Satan had wisdom, he would’ve known that Jesus, being the Son of God, dying would have became the perfect sacrifice. He was so blinded by pride that God even revealed to him the plan.

Talk about this: God wasn’t just manipulating Satan, God was saying, “This is what’s going to happen, and Satan, you are in the world. You are ruling the world. I’m going to send my people, my prophets, my rulers, my people, and they are going to tell you time and time again what I’m going to do. And you are so blinded by your pride that you will still try to put a stop to it, unknowingly you will be doing the very thing that the plan is.”

That’s how blind, pride can make you. If Satan had a little bit of wisdom, he would have known the plan all along. He would have known that Jesus would rise from the dead and would give people the ability to go to Heaven.

If he knew that, if he knew that, he never would’ve let it happen. Because guess what? That instance he was defeated, once again he was destroyed. Pride blinded him and Satan became destroyed once again, because he was not able to continue getting people to worship him.

Now his plan was really ruined forever, because at that point he had a chance of people not being redeemed from their sins. But when Jesus died and became the ultimate sacrifice to cover all sins, Satan, that was like a major blow to him.

Because now we can choose to believe in Jesus and we will be saved. Of course, he is so evil that he devised new tactics to try to pull people away, but God made it a lot easier for us to go to Heaven.

Let’s go to Genesis 3:15 again. Remember that, Genesis 3:15, “I will put an enmity between you and the woman, between her offspring and yours; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

All right. Who is, what is this? God is talking to Satan the serpent, saying, “I will make enemies of you and humankind. You will strike their heel.” So Satan will have some pull and hold over us. You can grab someone’s Achilles tendon and squeeze really hard, and it can buckle them.

You can get them to do what you want, but guess what? With a pull of their leg and a kick, what are they going to do? Bam, kick you and crush the head. So if a snake or something is biting you on the heel, or a dog, you can crush their head.

Who has more power? God is right there prophesying, saying, “You will have some control. You will have some power, but only what I give you. And if humans realize and get the wisdom that I have given them, they will have power over you. But if they are blinded by pride and they don’t have wisdom, then you will have control over them.”

So what’s the lesson right there? Do not let pride blind you. Pride is the number one enemy of Christians. Pride is the number one tool of Satan.

When we become proud, we start to reject God. Do not become proud. If Satan only knew the prophecy of crushing him in Genesis 3:15 would come true, he never would’ve killed Jesus. But he didn’t have wisdom to understand it.

Let’s go to 1 Corinthians 2:8, 1 Corinthians 2:8, all right. One Corinthians 2:8 says, “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” What didn’t they understand? None of the rulers understood what was going on, none of the rulers understood the prophecy.

If they would’ve understood what would happen by crucifying Jesus, they never would have done it. And that’s Paul saying, “It’s not just me.” All right let’s move on, lots of prophecy on Jesus. Satan refused to believe it. Why? Because of pride.

What is also another term in today’s society that we call this? It’s called confirmation bias. You have a bias to a predisposition, and this is what you believe. And no matter how much evidence comes against it, you still believe what you believe.

It doesn’t matter, you are biased, you are confirmation biased. You won’t change your opinion. Let’s go to some of these prophecies, they’re all over the place.

Old Testament, God sent prophets and said, “Satan, I know you’re going to be so blinded by pride that I am not even worried about telling you what will happen because your pride will blind you, so much that you will refuse the wisdom of the words and you will not heed these warnings and you will play right into the plan that I have set in place.”

Let’s go to Luke 24:46. “He told them, ‘This is what was written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.’” Jesus is saying that this is what was written, so it was written in the past. Where was it written?

Well,l 1 Corinthians 15:4 — New Testament — we’re going to go there again where it’s another reference of Old Testament prophecies, 1 Corinthians Chapter 15, Verse 4 says that “He was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”

What scriptures are we talking about? Well, let’s start going back to the Old Testament. We’re going to go to books of the prophets: Jonah, Josiah, what about Isaac and Abraham. There are many more prophecies throughout the Old Testament of Jesus, but let’s go to Jonah 1:17.

Bear with me, Jonah Chapter 1, Verse 17 says “But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights exactly.” Like Jesus says in the New Testament, “None other than the sign of Jonah will be given to you.”

What was that, three days, three nights as Jonah remained in the belly of the fish. So the son of man will remain in the belly of the Earth three days three nights. Interestingly enough, when we celebrate Easter they say Good Friday and Easter Sunday. That’s not three days and three nights, we can do another sermon on that another time.

What else? Jonah Verse 6:2, we can go there. Isaac Genesis 22:4 and many many more prophecies that I really encourage you to check out, because why? God gave a lot of Scripture. A lot of prophets to to tell people what was going to happen in the future.

Why? Because he knew that Satan would be so blinded by pride, that he wouldn’t listen to them. So what is the lesson here? Well, number one: God hates pride. What is one thing that God hates? It is pride. He doesn’t like it at all.

So we can hate it too. God has given us permission to be like Him. So if He hates pride, we need to hate pride as well. Let’s go to Proverbs 8:13 “To fear The LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior, and perverse speech.” God hates pride and arrogance. You can hate pride.

If Satan knew that the prophecy of Genesis 3:15, of people being able to crush his head would come true, he never would have killed Jesus. He had the greatest hand in his own destruction by being proud. Satan was proud in Heaven, he got cast down to Earth.

Satan stole Earth from the human rule. He became proud and he became destroyed in that very instant. God said, “You will strike their heel, but they will crush your head.” Then, Jesus came to Earth. Satan became proud. Well let’s, let’s not forget Job, Satan was very proud in that story.

God said to Satan, “Hey, where have you been?” “I’ve been throughout the Earth.” “Hey, have you considered my servant Job? There’s none like him.” “Ha, I’ll take care of that. Let me do this and I’ll win.” God says, “Fine, go ahead.” Boom, pride! Guess what? Satan got destroyed there. He didn’t win.

“Oh fine God, let me do this.” “Fine, go ahead.” Boom! Pride again, fall again. Satan didn’t win another time. “Fine, you let me touch him and you let me kill everything else.” “Fine, go ahead, touch him.” Satan then inflicted Job with all this stuff. Pride later, still Job would not turn. Satan destroyed, fell again.

Then we go to Jesus. He was proud. He thought he could destroy Jesus the Son of God. “Get off my Earth! This is my planet,” Satan says. “I’ll kill Jesus.” By killing Jesus now, boom! All of us can go to Heaven. Satan got destroyed yet again, and he will continue to be destroyed time and time again.

Why? Because of pride. Avoid pride. Seek wisdom. Proverbs says, “Though it cost you all you have, get wisdom, get understanding.” Why? Because if you have wisdom, you will not have pride. Wisdom and pride are opposite. Humility goes with wisdom and honor. Be humble, avoid pride.

Let’s pray. Lord, thank you so much for this great message. Thank you so much for giving us the prophecies in the Bible about Jesus, and the stories about how Satan refused to believe them and still maintained his pride and has been destroyed time and time again.

Pride truly goes before destruction, Lord, so I pray that you would inspire everyone to remove pride from their lives.

In the very very smallest instance of saying, “I’m so proud of you,” or “I’m proud of your accomplishment,” or “I’m proud of this, or this is my most proud moment of my life.” No, they need to eliminate all of that from their lives.

Help them change their mindset, change their vocabulary, shift, and become a new creation in you, in Jesus, Lord, that they would be humble. That they would seek humility and that you would bless them with honor and rise them up here on Earth. To go forth, make disciples of all nations, and bring more people to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I hope you really take this message to heart. Pride is a serious problem, stay away from it. Be humble, avoid pride, have a great week and God bless.
