Today we begin a 7-part sermon series about the state of the world during the time of Noah. Today’s message is about how our earth is young. Yes, since life on earth began, our earth is only thousands of years old. Not millions. If you take the time to study Biblical chronology, you will see that there is no room for millions of years between Creation and Christ and between Christ and today. In fact, the genealogies in Genesis provide us with a timeline for how long ago Creation took place.
So, why do some people believe that the earth is millions of years old? Unfortunately, many people have been led astray by evolutionary theories, which suggest that the earth must be old because it took so long for life to develop.
The young earth theory is not only supported by the Bible, but also by science. For example, the earth’s magnetic field is decaying. If the earth were millions of years old, the magnetic field would have long ago dissipated. Additionally, the sun is losing mass. At the current rate of loss, the sun would have already burned out if it were millions of years old. Rivers have eroded mountains and if the earth was millions of years old those mountains would have been completely eroded away.

Today we are kicking off a seven-part sermon series, seven-parts. We have seven parts that will take us through seven weeks. The title of the entire series is about a young earth. We have a young earth, and we’re going to bring you through the whole works of it all through the flood, through why our Earth is young, all of this.
It is not as detailed into the young Earth side, as more into Noah and the Ark side. Really it could have a dual title. We haven’t really titled the series but that will come later. Each sermon has its own title. We are going to give you an outline – a summary today, so you know what is coming up in the weeks to come.
I really hope that you will be here for all seven of them because that would be excellent. In addition, if you happen to catch one somewhere in the middle, each of these are autonomous so they can stand on their own and be a great message.
So if you listen to one or you see one that you really like and you want to share that one, you can do it and whoever is watching without seeing the rest, they’re not going to be lost. So it is not building, it is not in context.
However, it is a series so it would be cool for you to watch them all together. When they’re all done seven weeks from now, we will have it in a playlist, and if you want you can share the whole playlist to whoever wants to watch them.
Today we are talking about a young Earth. That is the kickoff of this series; our Earth is young. Many many people believe falsely that the Earth is millions and millions of years old. However, this is simply not the case. It’s really not.
If you want to debate about that or you want to argue with it, find a friend, a family member, get some other people, and talk about it with them. You don’t need to debate it with me. You can put a comment down below if you would like but get other people. Talk about it with them, show them this, ask them what they think, and engage in some discussion.
Let’s kick it off here. If you believe in the Bible, the Earth is simply not millions of years old. That is the fact. If you disagree with that fact then you don’t believe in some of the Bible. Yes, that is a little bit of fallacious reasoning, but the Bible proves and says that the Earth is not millions of years old.
Now some people argue that God could have created the world over millions of years and that each day was actually millions of years or a million years or 10 million years or whatever. You can twist it however you like, it’s just not that old.
How do we know this? Let’s dive in the genealogy from Adam. Now this could also be a little bit of discrepancy because the word “Adam” in the original text means man, so it could have been that God created man or mankind and then that was more than one. But if it is Adam, that is one person.
Adam to Noah, it is one person because Adam and then he had a wife Eve. God didn’t create a bunch of wives from one man’s rib or a bunch of man’s ribs; He took it from the man, and we have in our translation, given him a name Adam. He named all of the creatures in the world. We can come to that another time, that is not the point of this.
The genealogy from Adam to Noah. Now Noah was the man who had built an ark, animals went on the Ark and he set sail, and God wiped the Earth clean. That is 1,656 years. God told Noah to bring every kind of animal on the Ark. This is Genesis 7:2; it says, “Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male, and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male, and its mate.”
Now why did they take seven clean and two unclean? Well a couple of theories here. Clean animals were okay to be eaten, and so he took seven of them on the Ark because this was going to be a long journey so you got to eat something.
They can’t just bring a bunch of produce for 40 days and 40 nights and eat only vegetables and have it not mold or rot or something happen, so they brought some clean animals so they could eat them as well, and one pair of every unclean animal. They weren’t going to eat those. Those are simply so that they didn’t die out.
Now he would not have left any behind. He took seven sets of clean and one set of every unclean. Where am I going with this? Because we were just talking about the genealogy and all of a sudden we are on the animals. Stay with me. We are gonna bring it around. So on this little detour, bear with me. He would not have left any animals behind. Hopefully, you agree with that.
If he took seven of every clean, one of every unclean, that is all the animals. In Genesis, God created all the animals right in the beginning. What is the point? The point is if God created all the animals in the beginning, when He created man – when He created Adam when He had Eve – then dinosaurs would have also been created.
Now they may not have been super tall at this point, or of course, on the Ark, they would probably be babies, but the point is dinosaurs would have been on the Ark. Let that sink in.
Some people [are] like, “Yeah, no big deal, I knew that.” Of course, others, you’re going nuts right now; dinosaurs are on the Ark? Why? How do we know this? Well, they were mentioned more than once in the Bible after the flood.
Now if they are mentioned after the flood, they weren’t just mentioned like, oh God’s speaking to someone; I created this. They were mentioned as if whoever was mentioning them saw it. We will come to that later.
So if they are mentioned after the flood it means they survived the flood. The only way animals would survive the flood is if they were on the Ark. Are you following the reasoning here? They had to be on the Ark in order to survive the flood. If they were there after the Ark, it means they were on the Ark.
Three dinosaurs are specifically mentioned in the Bible. The books of Job, Psalm, Ezekiel, and Isaiah all say and talk about dinosaurs. How could they all fit on the Ark? Well, we’re going to talk about how big the Ark was in one of these sermon series – one of the messages in this series.
This is why you need to stay tuned. That will be coming up later. In addition, the word “Dragon” occurs 28 times in the Bible. So if you believe the Bible is the true Word of God, then you can believe that dinosaurs and humans were on the earth at the same time.
That would mean right there that dinosaurs are not roaming the earth millions of years before humans, in fact at the same time. Why did all the dinosaurs die? Flood? Yes, but if the dinosaurs were on the Ark then the flood didn’t kill all the dinosaurs. So some would have survived. Why are they not still here today? We’re going to come to that again in a later message.
Let’s take a look at, first, we’re going to come back to Adam to Noah – the genealogy from Adam to Noah. Why is that important? Well, it gives you a timeline of animals [and] how much time they had to grow. From Adam to Noah 1,656 years.
Now reptiles continue to grow their entire lifespan. So think about if a reptile lived for 100 years, 200 years, [or] 300 years. Some sea turtles, even snapping turtles, they can live for 200 or 300 years even today.
If one of those lived that long and continued to grow for that amount of time in a perfect environment, remember because when the Earth was created, well we haven’t talked about it yet, but in case maybe you know, when the Earth was created it was perfect; it was a perfect environment. If they were growing in that perfect environment for 1,000 years or for the span of their life, 300 years. Today, if they lived 300 years, back then they might have lived 600 [or] 900 years.
How do we know this? Adam was very old. Noah was very old. People were old in the Bible back then. They lived several hundred years. We are going to talk about that later too. Continuing on from Noah to Jesus, 2,318 years, Jesus to now [is] 2,022 years.
For those of you good at math, total that up and we come to 5,996. 5,996 years which is right under 6,000 years that the Earth was created, or it was created before, perhaps because the Bible tells us that it was void.
Wisdom was here, but the Earth was void. If you drilled to the core of the Earth and scientists could determine the age, that could perhaps be older, but from life on Earth – plants, water being separated, not chaos, not void is 6,000 years, dinosaurs included.
How do we know that? Well, there is a Bible timeline that I will link to in the description below that you can go check out. Otherwise, we know it from the genealogy in the Bible. If you don’t want to go through all of the genealogy of the Bible and total up so-and-so’s age to so-and-so and this and that, then you can go to hbu.edu and it is the Bible timeline. It is a chronological index, they have done it all for you. They have laid it all out. Hopefully, they never take it down because it is a great resource.
Let’s continue on. What are the next steps of this series? Today young Earth: genealogy shows that we have a young Earth about 6,000 years old. Maybe not the Earth itself because it was there void and deep before God put life on it. So that could be older for all we know, but from life on Earth is 6,000 years or less, 5,996.
The next message is going to be how water used to be in the atmosphere. Now a little sneak peek on that is this water in the atmosphere is what allowed us to have such a perfect world and grow so old. Next, we’re going to talk about how dinosaurs were here with humans. How do we know this? Well, I gave you a preview. The Book of Job, Psalm, Ezekiel, and Isaiah all mention dinosaurs. We’re going to dive into that coming up in that message.
Then we are going to talk about the first time that rain fell on the Earth. Yes, there was a first-time rain fell, and we have a detailed account of it in the Bible. We are going to go there, we are going to read about how rain fell for the first time.
Imagine what the people thought when rain came down and they didn’t know what it was. What was this? Well if you kind of put two and two together, you may know where this rain initially came from, but we will get there at a future point in time. I won’t spoil it for you now. But if you know, great.
The next thing: humans were limited to 120 years. Why were we limited? Well because God could not contend with our ignorance, for a nicer term, for so long. We are wicked people; we always rebel against God, and He doesn’t want to deal with us on Earth for that long so limited us to 120 years. Part of the reason for that was because our environment was no longer good.
Another sneak peek is dinosaurs. If they were on the Ark, why aren’t there still dinosaurs walking around today? Well because at that time when we were limited, dinosaurs were also limited as well, or also killed off by humans because they’re a threat and they were a dragon. We have dragon slayers and trophies-type things and all that.
Next, we are going to talk about the animals on the Ark. What types of animals on the Ark? Well, we gave you a little verse in the beginning, seven pairs of every kind of clean and one pair of every kind of unclean. What does that include and how many were on the Ark? How big were they, etc?
Now then the next message will be the size of the Ark because it had to hold all these animals and everything, so the Ark must have been huge. How huge was the Ark? We are going to dive into the measurements, what it would convert to, and some things of today that you could kind of visualize and compare it to, to understand truly how big the Ark was, or is, if it’s still existing in a mountain somewhere over in Turkey as to be supposed.
The next thing we want to do is I want to read one more verse, and it is kind of a big circle, but I said I would come back to some of this before. It is Genesis Chapter 7 Verses 8 and 9, and it says, “Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God commanded Noah.”
So seven kinds of clean and unclean animals, but it was every bird, beast, [and] things that moved along the ground. All of these came to Noah and were on the Ark. Nothing was left behind. It was on the Ark.
Our Earth is young. We have the genealogy from the Bible. If we are going to go through these sermon series, and we are going to talk about each of these items coming up in the weeks to come. I hope that you stay tuned to this message because it is really going to be good. It is going to be very important. We are going to talk about a lot of stuff. We are going to, again, learn why things happen the way they were.
Remember that you know even though God limited us and is not going to put up with us for so long on this earth, He still loves you. He sent His son to die for you. So this is a great opportunity if you don’t know that to come into the light and welcome Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior.
How do you do that? It is very very simple. All you need to do is pray a prayer, and it is asking God to come into your heart, to be the ruler of your life, and asking for Him to forgive you of your sins. He can forgive you of all your sins no matter what you have done. If you ask for forgiveness you will be forgiven as long as you forgive others as well; you must do that.
If you want to do that, feel free to pray and ask God to come into your life; it is very simple. You can say these words: “Lord please forgive me for my sins. Please come into my life. I want you to be my Lord and Savior. Amen.”
That’s it. That’s all you have to do. It is very very simple. You can do that at any time. If you have any questions about it you can put a comment below. In addition, if you have any questions, you can talk to someone else around you that you know is a Christian or a believer. Give them the opportunity to share their faith with you.
That is a great thing that you can do for another believer is ask them to share what they believe. Ask them to share their faith. They may not want to; they may not feel comfortable, but it is a great thing because that is exactly why we are here on this Earth, to help bring light to others and be the light of the world.
If that is something again that you have done just now, tell someone, [and] comment below. This is a great thing. This is the first day of your new life. your old life is gone, your new life has come. That is wonderful. In addition, comment below, and we can be sure to be praying for you that you can find some places to get plugged in to learn more and to start to become on fire for Christ.
I hope that you tune in to the next messages; we have got six more sermons to come. This is a great series that is going to be happening. It’s really more of a historical series, so we are going to try to keep it pretty much biblical history.
You can share these messages with people who maybe are into evolution or Scientology or religions about the Earth, you know like the Earth mother or different types of New Age things like that. These other people who may not believe in creation, you could share this to them.
This isn’t a series on creation, but it’s a series on the Earth and the Ark and really the time of Noah. That is kind of the title of the series; it is young Earth but also really it’s the time of Noah and that is what we are going through. The water in the atmosphere, dinosaurs around the Earth with humans, the first rain, humans limited to 120 years, animals on the Ark, and the size of the Ark.
We have got a lot of messages coming up. Stay tuned for them, so make sure to hit the subscribe button, the like button, and the bell icon below.
Let’s pray. Lord Jesus thank You so much for this brief time today. I ask that the people listening would be inspired. It was kind of hard to fire them all up because it is basically an overview message, but allow them to be touched, to want to learn more about these other topics even though this message was not as strong as a compelling hook as it could have been. Still, bring them in and allow them to watch and learn and listen and understand exactly more about each of these future messages.
Jesus, I ask that each and every person out there would share their faith with someone and that those people who prayed that prayer would find someone to speak with and that they would know how welcome they are into Your home, in Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thanks again for tuning in today to this overview message about our young Earth. Our Earth is young. I encourage you to do a little research on that so that you can verify that. In addition, please stay tuned to future messages.
We have got really a lot of content. It’s so much content that it’s broken up into all these messages. They are going to be great. It is gonna be an excellent time of learning and history. It is really a great, great course for you to learn more about that time in our world’s history. I hope that you come back and stay tuned. God bless.
