People Fall Away From Christ You Need To Bring Them Back

Today we have got a great message; it is a message about humanity and how historically and throughout the beginning, all the way to the end, that humans and humankind continually fall away from God nonstop. It is like we want to be good, we want to do what is right and then no matter what happens, people always fall. They always fall away. They are terrible, terrible at following God.

From the original sin of Adam and Eve to all the sins of the world today, the general population of people continue to reject God or fall away from God or they fail to do what is right all the time. The Old Testament has countless examples of God’s people, His chosen people falling away from Him.

Do [you] not believe me? Check out the Book of Judges, 1 Kings, 2 Kings—there are many, many, many accounts where a leader chosen by God, a godly leader, whether they are a judge, a king, some type of leader, they are leading the people and things are going well.

Like Moses and the Israelites: things are going well and then all of a sudden that leader goes and dies, leaves for a period of time, something happens and the people fall away. Moses leading the Israelites, they are going to the promised land, Moses is like, “All right, I got to go up this mountain,” and he is going to get the Ten Commandments, he is talking with God and the people fall away.

They say, “As for this fellow Moses, we do not know what has happened to him,” so they tell Aaron, “Take all our gold and make us a god,” and then all of a sudden, they are worshiping this calf and they say, “This is the God that brought you out of Egypt.” What? We just made it yesterday.
But the people worshipped it. How does that even happen? How do they say, “Hey, this is your new god who brought you out of Egypt,” and then all the people are worshiping this golden calf?

Like, do you not remember what happened? It was not like it was a hundred years ago. I mean I do not know, they are like, “Well we do not know what happened to Moses so let’s worship this calf that we can make and we made it.”

People fall away. They are—we are sheep. If you have not accepted the fact that sheep are stupid and what, and if people are sheep, continue on. Check out this message here on “People Are Sheep” and that is a prime example when they just fell away.

“Oh, we do not know what happened to Moses so let’s go on and worship this calf that we just made, this is the god that brought us out of Egypt a little while ago even though we just made it yesterday.”

How could it have been there to bring us out months ago? Anyway, people are constantly falling away, and God, as a result of that, said, “I just cannot stand.” He has that same frustration. What are they thinking? How does it even make sense? It does not. The reason it happens is because this world is corrupted by the devil, as we learned in the message about understanding Scripture.

You could check that out here if you want. The truth is in you, then that is something you can have, but you have to ask for it, and this world does not have the truth. The father of this world is the devil and when he lies, he speaks his native language. That is what he speaks.

The people in this world are children of the devil. If they are following this world, they are following the devil, then they are filled with confusion and lies and so that is how they can be so corrupt. How can they not be corrupt? They have to have the truth within them, the Holy Spirit within them, and that is the major downfall. People always fall away because of the corruption in this world.

The Book of Judges [has] many great leaders. Gideon being very well known, of Samson, and as soon as the judge died, the people fell away. They fell away. People fell away. Let’s go to Judges 2. This is just one instance, there are many throughout Judges.

But Judges Chapter 2 Verse 18-19 says, “Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the LORD had compassion on them as they groaned under those who oppressed and afflicted them.

“But when the judge died, the people returned to their ways, even more corrupt than those of their fathers, following other gods, serving and worshipping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and their stubborn ways.”

Continue on, I encourage you to continue reading because the next verse is, “Therefore the LORD was very angry with them.” So if you stop following God or if you fall away, God becomes angry.

He is disappointed in you, He is upset so you should strive to follow Him as much as possible, and how do you do that? Read the Bible. Understand it. Have the Holy Spirit within you. Get the truth inside of you. Be the light. This is the light right here. Internalize it and be the light.

It is vastly important that people have godly leaders. That verse we just read, God rose up a judge, and as long as the judge lived to lead the people, the people followed. The people did what was right, but as soon as that judge died, the people instantly fell away and became even more corrupt than they were before.

Look at countries, look at the United States for example. It has become like cities in the Old Testament that God destroyed, like Sodom and Gomorrah, or where He just had to wipe them out. Like even Noah when He said I gotta wipe out the whole Earth. The United States is becoming that way; it is promoting things that are not good. It is filled with lies. The truth is not here.

How many people in the U.S. are reading their Bible every day? Not many. How many people can even name the first book in the Bible? Less than half. Come on, what is going on around here? The United States is promoting things like abortion, homosexuality, prostitution, sexual impurity, all of these things that are contradictory to what God tells us.

Are you returning to ways corrupt, even more corrupt than those of your parents or your grandparents or are you making an effort to be the light and internalize this light and follow God? I hope you are trying to follow God.

What else is happening in our world? God is being removed from courthouses. They are taking down pictures, taking down pictures of Jesus, praying, taking down the standing at the door, and knocking pictures down. They are taking down pictures of the Ten Commandments. They are pulling them out of courthouses, schools, public buildings, all of that kind of stuff.

They are even talking about removing God from our history, as in taking it off of our currency, taking it out of the pledge of allegiance, taking it out of things, and removing it out of the oath, “So help me God.” They are pulling that out. They are stopping a lot of the things that are bringing us under God. We are getting even further away.

We need to get back. That is a different topic, but they are removing all of this. You have a choice. You can either fall away like the rest of the country or the rest of the world, the rest of people, or you can live for God and be different.

Let’s take a look at Hebrews Chapter 3 Verse 12. So if you have your Bibles, I hope you are turning with me, I hope you are reading, hope you are using your Bible. If not, use your Bible later.

All these references are going to be in the description below. Use your Bible. I am reading you like one or two verses, go back and read three or four, two on the top, two on the bottom, plus the two that I read you.

All right, Hebrews 3:12, “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.” Do not have a sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from God. What should you have instead? Let’s keep going.

“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today.’” Well, today is today. Start encouraging those around you, build them up, bring them cheer, be the light in their life. ‘Encourage one another daily as long as it is called today. So that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”

Deceitfulness, there is a theme. Sin is of the devil. The devil is the father of lies. This world is under the reign of the devil. There are lies in this world. When you sin, it is because you are being led astray.

By what? Lies, deceit, you are thinking something will be better than it really is, and then you do it and you find out it is not worth it, it is not good, it was a lie. You were led there under false pretenses and you sinned. You fell away from God.

Make an effort to be the light. How do you do that, how do you stop sinning so much? Obviously, we are going to continue to sin. We are imperfect. No matter how hard we try, one time a day or two times a day, or some times a day, every single day we are still going to slip up. We will fall, we will sin, it is inevitable. But we can sin less. We can choose to follow God.

Obviously, right now, I could choose to go out and sin. I could choose to start stealing things. I could choose to kill someone if I wanted. I could choose to speed and go 100 miles an hour. I could choose to run the red lights, the stop signs. I could choose to do all of that but I choose not to. I choose to obey, to follow the rules, to be an example for others, to have Christ within me.

How do you do that, have Christ within you? Ask. Ask for the Holy Spirit as well. Live in love. By doing that, you can choose to do what is right because you have the Holy Spirit within you, helping you to do what is right, helping you to decipher right from wrong, helping you to recognize those lies that the devil is telling us.

When you become a Christian, you are crossing over from darkness into light; the old is gone, the new has come. You are a new creation and now you are no longer a child of the devil, you are a child of God.

The devil lost one; he is upset, he is going to come after you. You got to have the Holy Spirit within you, you got to fuel your spirit with this book so that when the devil starts coming after you, you can recognize what is happening and avoid it.

People fall away constantly. It is throughout history, read the Old Testament and it has numerous examples of people falling away from God. Do not be like that. Live for God. Be different. We are different, you are different, take pride in that difference. There is no one like you. No one like you.

That is incredible. You are rare and in that rarity, think about if you had a Mickey Mantle rookie card, that is rare, that is rare and what does that mean? It is very valuable. You are rare, there is no one like you. You are very, very valuable. As a matter of fact, you are so valuable that you cannot even be replaced.

Think about that Mickey Mantle rookie card, could it be replaced? If you have it insured for whatever it is worth, who knows tens of thousands and it burns up in a fire or someone steals it, your insurance company could replace that, they could go buy one somewhere. You are so rare, you cannot be replaced. That is how valuable you are.

Be valuable. Be the light. Follow God and be different. You are different, I am different, take that difference and recognize that it is valuable, that you are valuable. It is up to you whether you choose to follow God, whether you choose to continue to try to live in the light, or whether you want to stray from that path and follow the world. It is up to you.

Let’s go to Romans 12:1-2, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”

Let’s keep going. “Do not conform any longer.” Make the choice, stop today. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—for his good, perfect and pleasing will.”

Do not conform any longer to the pattern in this world, make that choice, be different, follow God. Offer your body as a living sacrifice. What does that mean? Well, Jesus has already died for you, He does not need you to die, He does not want you to die, He wants you to live for Him. Get out there.

Share the light. Share the gospel. Click on sharing buttons, on sermons. Share Bible verses, share messages that promote goodness, that follow Him. That is what He wants. Do not be like the people who fall away.

1 Timothy 4:1, “The Spirit of Truth clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” Remember this world is ruled by Satan. Satan has who with him?

God has angels, Satan has demons. Demons are running around like crazy on this Earth. The devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for something to devour. Do not let him devour you. There are demons everywhere.

Right here, “The Spirit of Truth says some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits of this world to follow this world, to follow sin and things taught by demons.” Where do these things come from? Well, such teachings come through, “Hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” Huh? Keep reading.

You will know where they come from, you will know how to recognize them. Have that spirit within you; be the light, and let your light shine. You are light, you go into darkness and darkness cannot overtake the light unless you choose to turn your light out. The light will overpower darkness. If you go into a room that is pitch black, you cannot see anything. If there is a little bit of light coming in, it is overpowering that darkness, you can see.

But if you shut that off or turn it out, then guess what? That light is gone. You are the light in darkness. That makes you different, and how valuable is light in darkness? When you are in a dark room, what do you say? “I wish I had a light.”

How valuable would that light be? Be valuable, you are valuable, you are different. Be different in a world full of darkness. Be the light, light is different than darkness, be valuable.

People are searching for light in darkness, they are searching for you, they are searching for you, be valuable to them. Change their life. How do you do that? Share the Bible with them. Share Jesus with them. They are searching, there are people all over the place that are searching for something. They are praying but they do not know who they are praying to.

They are asking for something in life. They are asking for a change and they do not know what to do. They do not know what steps to take because they are living in lies. They are living in deceit and they are tired of it. They do not want to have demons tricking them all day long. Set them free, help them out, share Jesus with others, and be the light of the world.

Let’s pray.

Lord Jesus, thank You very much for coming here and dying for us. Thank You for making it possible for us to believe in You and for You to change our lives. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit that You can provide for us and allow us to shine.

Thank You for this Bible, for the book that You have given us to read and internalize to meditate on it day and night. To keep it on our lips so that we can internalize it and do it and externalize it through having the Holy Spirit within us.

Lord, I pray that each person out there that they would follow those steps that they would live in love. That they would accept You. That they would ask for the Holy Spirit. That they would internalize their Bible and that they would recognize that they are different. That they are the light in the darkness and that they are valuable, they are rare, there is no one like them.

Thank You for that God. Thank You so much for making these people different. Please, Lord, inspire them though they are different, to act in the same way, to act in love, and to get out there and share You with as many people as possible. So that they can be light to others who are stuck in darkness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Take pride in your difference. Be happy that you are the light of the world. You have the power to change other people’s lives. Use it. You are rare and valuable. Do not fall away from God. People are going to fall away, they will, it is history. They are going to continue to fall away, be different and stay with God, and try your best to inspire others to do the same. God bless.
