August 2021 Monthly Status Update For Social Media Ministries Progress Report

Hello and welcome to Social Media Ministries. This is the August 2021 update. My name is Spencer Coffman. Thanks for checking this out. We have monthly updates that we are providing to you so you can keep updated on what is happening with Social Media Ministries.

What happened in August? Well, August was a really really big month for us. As you can see we are in a new recording location, that is huge. But some other highlights. We held our first board meeting, the opening board meeting, which is awesome. We also elected a board of directors and positions, so vice president, president, all of that kind of stuff, treasurer. In addition, we adopted the bylaws, we voted them into effect, we have bylaws now which is awesome. We also opened a bank account which is a huge step, now we can start looking at fundraising. We hope to do that next month.

We also moved to a new location, that is the biggest highlight for me. We have got a new recording space. We set up the studio. You can check out a behind-the-scenes video of that in a Card up above if you are watching on YouTube, a Card will pop up to show you the behind-the-scenes location of our new studio.

In addition, we got some new lights which is great, Mark Butler shout out to him. He provided us with some new studio lighting that looks really really good and they work nicely and it provides us with a good background, awesome, thanks again for that Mark Butler.

We also got a new microphone, we purchased that. I put that, again just like all our other purchases right now, are going on a credit card, and then we are just making payments on that until we can start fundraising to get all of that stuff paid off. We got a really great microphone and the audio sounds a lot better, it has less surround noise, it is a shotgun microphone so it is pointed directly at me, it has got some good windscreens on it, and it is a top-of-the-line microphone. It works with the iPhone 12 Pro Max which is excellent. There is no feedback, so that is a really good blessing, we are grateful for all of that.

What do we hope to accomplish next month? Well, we want to get the IRS nonprofit letter and pretty much we are just waiting on the IRS for that. All the paperwork is done, the fees are all paid, everything is good. We are just waiting on the IRS, basically, we are waiting on the government to get to the application, and they process them in order and who knows how many people are working, and who knows how long it will take? Hopefully, that will happen next month.

We also hope next month, if that happens, to start fundraising. So getting registered on different places to accept donations and provide tax-deductible receipts. In the meantime, if you wish to donate you can do so and then you will still receive a tax-deductible donation because once our IRS letter is approved it will be approved as of the application date. So even if it took them six months to approve, it will be approved six months ago so we are still considered a non-profit and anything you do donate you can still get a tax-deductible receipt for it.
